This doesn't quite apply to this racing type, but saltwater is apparently hell on turbine blades. Then again, saltwater is hell on pretty much everything.

Being from Michigan we have tons of boat racing, but I've always seen it done on lakes or the Detroit River using pontoons for the turns never on a "track".

Yeh, I've never seen anything like that either. I still can't get over just how tight that thing can turn. It's like go-cart...only a boat. Looks like a hoot though.

i was thinking more if one of those huge water sprays landed on a competing boat or something. Guess it isn't all that likely.
