This looks like a very informative documentary

Watching it now. There doesn't seem to be any outright lies in the show so far. Missed the first 20 minutes.

It's not their type of show, it has too many facts in it.

Again, why does it matter? One thing that Obama promised is that people would be held accountable. I hoped that would include those who foisted this farce onto us, but the supposed opposition just shut up. Nothing. Well maybe next time, because there isn't any accountability demanded to give pause for there not to be next time.

We will get fooled again.

You are correct. I retract my factually incorrect post. Perhaps I should refrain from watching a TV show explaining string theory and posting simultaneously. Perhaps this old brain doesn't muli-task as well as I remember it doing in years gone by. I will consider this guidance for future endeavors.

A more correct assessment would be that there was sufficient time between the administrations for initial assumptions and faulty reports to be properly evaluated, modified, rejected or replaced. The facts were that most programs were gone after the 1st Gulf War and almost nothing was done to reconstitute them. By Bush Jr.'s time it was clear that the "aluminum tubes" issue was ludicrous, the "yellowcake" story was a sham, the "Saddam supporting AQ and may give them WMD was shown to be ridiculous, clandestine meetings were made up, etc..

So Clinton got the initial intel and assumed it might constitute a threat. Bush ignored the information developed in the interim debunking all of this and instead magnified and embellished the now "imaginary" threat to great proportions.

Clinton said/Bush said is a false equivalency that should be obvious to anyone who is anything more than the most casual observer.

I don't disagree at all. I was never a supporter of going back into Iraq or into Afghanistan with the idea of nation building. I quick in N out ass kicking would have been sufficient (imo) for both.

That's why it matters. As much as I'd love to hold people accountable you and I both know it won't happen, so at the very least people need to understand how it happened to prevent it from happening again.

There were many parties involved and they all played a part it's important to understand that and recognize the signs and elect people who put their country first before party and before money.

If truth and understanding is the goal, then Rachel Maddow should not be your go-to person. It's that simple. Maddow has her perspective on how the world works, how the world is divided into groups, what motivates these groups, and how they interact within themselves and with other groups. This perspective is heavily used to draw conclusions. If you already agree with her perspective, then Maddow is the greatest person alive, only one brave enough to expose the real truth. If you don't agree with her perspective, then she is just flapping her lips.

Watching it too and waiting for the Rightists rage machine to crank up. ;)

Not my fault they aired their special at the same time as new episodes of Pawn Stars ;)

My Nixon theory still holds up. High ups in the federal government never are held responsible.

Hubris: The Selling of the Iraq War

I think this would be a very good show for the Historically challenged in here or for the people who want to know how we got to this point in History.

It airs tonight at 9PM eastern.

As presented by MSNBC and Maddow?

Thanks but will not be watching.

Documentary based on a book by people that are avidly against the Republican administration.

It will be an interesting canvas from such a paint brush.

It will be interesting to see the spin they put on the Democratic involvement.

Wow, that is pretty closed minded. Everything in this documentary is all fact, and nothing but facts. It is in fact a part of our history and not something you just ignore and forget. I hope we never repeat this type of mistake again in our future.

Remember, facts can be skewed and/or omitted to present different pictures.

You mean in this speech by President Clinton in 1998 talking about Iraq's WMDs and the clear evidence of a WMD program?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=S0f5u_0ytUs

about 3:10 and 3:40

That's just it. You can find just about every politician at the time on record saying Saddam had WMD and needed to be taken out of power. He used them on his own people and used them against Iran. That is well documented but now because we didn't find hardly anything the press and Bush opponents have morphed it into he never "had" them at all.

Maddow is just the other side of the same coin.

Oddly enough it's how this nation was misled into a war against Iraq.

If President Bush's administration wasn't so obsessed with Iraq the war in Afghanistan might've been executed quickly and properly with Bin Laden's death occurring several years earlier.

If the above happened, it's very unlikely you'd be complaining about an Obama administration.
