This little missing/presumed dead girl: What's the deal?

Why is this getting so much media attention? Honestly, this stuff happens every single day. So why is it big news? There are thousands of missing children in this country, unfortunately most of them are probably dead, but you don't see them plastered across the headlines. Now I know some people are going to come in here and say, "You heartless bastard, a little girl is dead, and you don't care!" Well you people are missing the point: Why is this case all over the news? Why is she so special? Is it just a dry news week or something? Or did I miss something from the story?
 
Yea, they even had an emergency news bullitin during the grammies about it (with the blue scrolly thing at the bottom).... As sad and horrific as it is, its not a national emergency
 
I went to high school with the son of the guy who is suspected.

Used to talk to him quite a bit too.

But I don't know why this is getting so much attention no...
 
They have to report on some of them, but can't report on all of them.

I guess it just depends on the timing, unfortunately.
 
I guess because that neighborhood was like a really family-friendly place to raise kids and then something like this happened. Also, that whole "snowball" theory comes into effect...

It's a normal middle to upper class neighborhood, not unlike many others...
 
The deal is media bias. When bad things happen to good/well off/white/American people it's news. When bad things happen to bad/poor/minority/foreign people, it's not.

I would suspect not since bad/poor/minority/foreign people are clearly not the demographic the media seems to be targeting.
 
The District Attorney confirmed that it is her body (that's what it said on the news earlier). Really, really sad.

What is shown on these sites is different from the news tickers on the bottom of cbs earlier. It said that the body was identified.
