Don't get me wrong, it's a good bike, cheap and easy to have fun on but let's face it, it isn't very powerful, the brakes are mediocre in feel (not in actual stopping power), and the suspension is weak.

The Monster always used to have just a cap at the back of the seat that you could remove if you found a chick mad enough to get on the back. Does that one come off?

Very nice. Engine size? I know they used to come in 600 & 1100 or so.

Of course not. I'm just messing around with the tread title...poking a little fun at myself. 😉

The brakes are amazing though. 2 fingers, you hardly touch them, very strong! The clutch on the other hand is a little more firm than I'm used to.

The paint is perfect, looks like it was dipped in red nail polish that is still wet. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. I was showing it to a friend of mine here at work and all he could say was beautiful. He must have said it 4-5 times.

1100, and yes, that cover is removable, the seat is underneath and it is all one piece. It is actually more comfortable than my SV and it doesn't feel like I'm going as fast as I am...gotta be careful with that.

I'll post a few more pics tonight when I get home.

You should poke fun at yourself. You've been in every motorcycle thread on this forum stating how a liter bike is way more bike than you could ever use on public roads and now you've bought one. You should change your name to HypocrisyToTheMaximus.

Now that's out of the way, nice bike and good for you for finally pulling the trigger. Life's too effin' short to not enjoy a few toys every now and then. And when the wife bitches, just rev that beauty louder!

And I still think that. This isn't a liter bike per se. It makes 100hp and 76ft-lbs of torque. There is a big difference between this and a liter bike. Liter bike typically denotes a supersport. This is not a supersport.

Looks sick with the full rear wheel showing on one side and a fresh set of pirelli's on there. Doesn't even need a fender eliminator. Rear fender looks pretty slick from the factory which is a rare thing on today's bikes. Drool..
 
I just can't get over sport bike looks. I desperately wanted to love the Devil Duc (forgot the real name), but it's just to damn ugly to ride. To each his own I guess.

Nice wheels Jules, keep the shiny side up.

Not to hijack thread, but I'm considering buying a 1983-1985 Honda Nighthawk CB650 as a starting bike. Is it good?
 
So, I rode to work today and clicked over the 100 mile mark on my ride home. Few observations, this thing just leaps forward with a twist of the wrist. You really need to keep the revs over 4,000rpms though or the engine bogs, taking off from a light can bog a bit if you don't give enough throttle...not really a problem for me though. This bike is very comfortable on the freeway but I'm trying not to keep the engine at the same revs during break in. I think I may just hold off on riding until the weekend when I can get out in the canyons and really work her. Tires are broken in and I'm starting to feel comfortable really leaning this bike.

Riding impressions: the suspension is stiff, rough roads gives a rough ride but oh man does this bike love long sweeping corners at high speed. The bike feels so planted and stable. And those Brembo brakes! Holy crap! Now I know what proper brakes feel like. Not that the SV was bad, it just didn't have the best feel. This thing could stand on its nose with 2 finger braking. Turn in is effortless. You think about turning and the bike moves, yet I could take my hands off the bars at 60mph and it is perfectly stable. Riding position is a little more relaxed than my SV is (I had aftermarket clubman style bars on it) and more comfortable. One thing I do notice is how little of the bike there is in front of you. I think the rider is farther forward but still more upright which gives the best of the sportbike weight distribution/handling yet you don't feel as stretched out.

The engine, ZOMG torque!!! A couple times today I left a light quickly and the front end got really light. This bike will pull the front wheel up easily and thrust is immediate and strong. I love the sounds this bike makes too. I find myself coasting off throttle just to hear the engine burble and sputter. On throttle it is just strong linear power that builds as you get into the powerband. Can't wait to explore all of it.

One thing I'm not crazy about is the heat that radiates off this thing. It was in the low 80s here today and riding home I noticed how much heat pours out of the chassis at a stop light...and the longer you sit the worse it gets. It is aircooled though so I guess this is to be expected. Gives me an added excuse to lane split...which brings me to another point, the mirrors and handlebars. Definitely wider than the SV and those mirrors stick up like car/truck/suv mirror catchers and I can't fold them in so I guess I'll just have to get used to them. I do like the view the mirrors give even though they can get pretty blurry at times due to vibrations.

Nice! Now you just need a Ferrari 458 or red Exige S to go with it. I'd have to recommend keeping it Italian though 😀

Should be a great starting bike. Check to make sure it starts easily and runs well once warmed up. Make sure the tires are in good shape and that the fluids are clean and clear with no leaks or rash anywhere, paint should be in decent condition, no rust. A bike like this in good shape should fetch around $1000 or so easily. Less if anything I mentioned is out of sorts.
