This just about scared the **** out of me

I walked out onto my deck to take the dogs out tonight, took a few steps and out of the corner of my eye noticed something suspended in mid-air about 6" from my face. I turned and saw this right in front of me.

I swear it wasn't there last night. He must have constructed it this afternoon. I've seen bigger spiders than this before but, this is one of the biggest webs I've seen around my house. These spiders are AMAZING builders.

Too bad it didn't seem to be working well for him. I saw several beetles and other bugs flying into the web and they just bounced off . I'm going to keep it there tonight anyway. Hopefully he'll get his fill on some of the mosquitos that have been thick as molasses around here this year (upstate NY).

The spider is pretty small. I just couldn't believe how much of the deck the web was taking up.

all i can think of when looking at those pictures is "KILL KILL KILL KILL", on a side spider note i found one crawling around our "semi" clean room at work, gave the little fvcker an acatone bath im proud of myself
