This is your final warning!

I am so tired of getting this recorded phone message, on my cellphone, from some company that uses bogus caller ID data, stating that:

"This is your final warning. The warranty on your vehicle will expire. Press 1 to speak with someone about getting a new warranty on your vehicle."

This has gone on for almost a year now. I almost want to throw the phone into the nearest wall and start stomping on it. I know I should press 1 and try to find out who the company is but I kind of think if I acknowledge them, I will be called more frequently by other recorded pitches since my number will be considered "good".

Am I the only person being harassed by these creeps?

I didnt think that actually worked. Ive had the same number since late 2000 when Tmobile was known as VoiceStream (I still have the original VS SIM card). Heck if Im going to change it.

I got this call earlier too, finally listened to it and there is an option to press 2 to take your number out of the database.

next time, press 1 and tell them "no, this is your final warning!"

If I did that Im pretty sure my cellphone would wind up in several pieces. I get rather frustrated sometimes.

I have actually tried the press 2 to remove your number from there list...don't waist your time.

I have a friend who was getting tired of these same calls, so he tried to get a warranty for his 2006 chevy nova. For some reason or another they couldn't find it in their database...

Shouldn't have to. It's against federal law to cold-call cell phones.

That's what I thought. It became legal for them to cold call cell phones in 08 (I think?) sometime. I'll see if I can find the place that said that...

EDIT: I know where I got that from. My grandmother sent me an e-mail mentioning they go public starting in 09. I will continue to see if I can find a legit source that says this too.

EDIT: The e-mail she sent was wrong. Cold calling cell numbers with a human operator is legal. It's just auto dialers that are illegal. However, if you give you cell number out to a company who (according their privacy policy) can sell your number, they can use autodialers.

Still report all unsolicited calls to the DNC registry though.

I used Snopes as well as the FTC as well as the DNC Registry site

I used to get those calls on both my personal and work cell phones. I put the numbers on the do-not-call lists, and they actually stopped after a few weeks. :)
