This Is Why I'll Never Be An Adult (not a repost, yay!!)

I kinda feel the same.
From boot camp all the way up until my contract at Tektronix it seemed like my responsibility increased exponentially buy my pay did not.

I like to think of it this way, the President only makes 400 grand a year and he's basically the most accountable person in the world. If anything goes wrong he automatically gets blamed whether it was his fault or not.

No one could pay me enough to do that job. Stress aint worth it.

I used a Tektronix oscilloscope today. That thing was fucking badass!

The longer I procrastinate on returning phone calls and emails, the more guilty I feel about it. The guilt I feel causes me to avoid the issue further, which only leads to more guilt and more procrastination.

That reminds me, I need to give my mother a call. Tomorrow.

I think what forces you to become an adult is when you have other people rely on you.

As an example, one summer in school I was living all alone. When I had roommates, I cooked often (we generally shared meals, so whoever was cooking would cook for the rest) and made an effort to keep the place clean. When I was all alone I found it much more difficult to motivate myself to maintain the place. Rather than preparing a dinner, I'd look around for something quick and easy. Make a sandwich? Why do that when I could just eat a slice of bread instead.

At the core of it, I think when you sacrifice your time for the benefit of others (you really want to go for a bike ride but you prepare a dinner for your mother instead, or you watch your kids play in their soccer game rather than sneak in an hour of computer gaming) is when you become an adult.

Just my take on things.

Which model?
And where do you live?

I'll go out on a limb and guess...Huntsville, Alabama.

I like this. 🙂

And I've had "Make a sandwich? Why do that when I could just eat a slice of bread instead?" moments when single, living solo. I think that being responsible for/to someone else makes you grow up pretty fast... Especially if you're responsible for a child! Must be why all my friends who have kids act like "real adults." 😛

no...the oatmeal seems like a commercial version of hyperbole and a half😉

anyways cake vs pie stands alone
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/03/pie-verus-cake-scientific-approach.html

That's dumb. It assumes you eat cake for the frosting, I hate frosting. And a cake chart would make perfect sense, it's no different than a pie chart. And a cake is more appropriate than a pie for a birthday, and depending on how many people you know, there will be more birthdays than 1 halloween and christmas.

This thread is full of under-25 typical Amercian slackers who feel that the world owes them something. Cleaning is hard? Going to the bank is difficult and stressful? Really? /major fail

One thing I find interesting is the "going to the bank" part. This thread is being fueled by those that basically have never HAD to go to the bank b/c ATMs and internet banking were available. Yet the cartoon referenced bitches about "going to the bank." I had to literally go to the bank in 1990 to deposit my paycheck and get cash. I doubt many of the other posters so far actually had a bank account in 1990.

So...I derailed myself. What I meant to say is: You typical young-people-slacker-ass-pot-smoking-douches! Oh, I'm SO sorry that you have to WORK, in order to SUPPORT YOURSELF! The world owes you nothing! Wait...what's that? YOu have a DEGREE? IN Computer Science/Accounting/Business/Theology/Chemical Equations? Yeah, AAAAND? That means what, exactly? That you should be paid $85K/year, to work one day a week, from HOME and you want to know where your Mercedes is?

EARN IT, BITCHES! Thousands of your prececessors have degrees and/or YEARS of real work experience in their fields. Some of them aren't making half what they're worth and they've been doing the job since before you were a Frosh Pledge w/o a clue.

So get a clue, that means you. Stop whining. Just find a job, work, get promoted, EARN YOUR KEEP. Then you will have earned the right to bitch about whatever you want. Until then, STFU. Please. I said "please." No excuse for barbarianism....

Huh? That article was stupid, yeah, but I don't see anyone here complaining about having to go the bank or cleaning or some other silly thing like that.

Now that I read your rant, wtf are you going on about?

404 humor not found. I also agree with Michael on this one. Lastly, I didn't find the cake vs pie piece to be funny at all. Thats not humor, that's just random ramblings of some idgit trying to be funny with some stupid drawings.
