THIS is why I was all over the baseball boards . . .

I am going to the game saturday night with my pop and my 4 yr old son.

Hamels is pitching so it should be a good one.

And I agree 100% with you they did not need to mortgage the future for the present. Cliff Lee is enough of an addition to at least make them one of the 4 or 5 teams that could win the world series.

Yeah, Halladay was THE perfect pitcher for them, but not having to give up either Drabek or Happ and getting Cliff Lee is awight wit me.

I had "much trepidation" about how Mr. Ruben Amaro, Jr. would perform in combat.

That young man, the Phillies GM, came through just fine.

I wish I knew something about baseball, then maybe I would give a shit.

Do they have cheerleaders yet?

They need something like this to keep me interested.

Go straight to porn, your attention span could never encompass the intricate strategy and elegant summer geometry of the time-tested pastime of baseball. There aren't even any car crashes. 🙁

People say the same thing about ballet and opera. 😛

Edit: and soccer...

No doubt, I was happy with my predictions last night at the Sox game.

Jose Contreras was throwing garbage in the 3rd inning, I said out loud "Lets put in Carrasco for 4 innings, I don't care if it's three runs in the third. Sure enough, Carrasco comes in for 4 innings of solid relief giving up only 1 run.

Later, when a new pitcher Randy Williams came in with a runner on first again I thought out loud "Wow, his leg kick is really tricky, I bet he has an awesome pickoff move". 2 pitches later he gets a pickoff. 🙂

It's doubtful that my date even noticed either one or cared, but she looked good on my arm!

There aren't any knockdown pitches in opera or ballet.

Few practitioners chew tobacco.

And soccer? Meh . . . foreigners in shorts.

Edwin Jackson had a hell of a game as well for my Tigers. He went 8 shutout innings of two hit ball before giving up a 2 run HR in the ninth. Still got the win though!

The Indians don't go for top prospects, just give us any extra baseballs or dirt you have lying around. Ugh.
Hopefully some of the new minor league team we just acquired will turn into to something useful. they can't all fail. can they?

Man, I truly feel for you, but the Indians had some monster teams in the not too distant past. One ton of premier sluggers wore an Indian uni.

They were sure fun to watch in the 90s for sure. It was nice seeing them competitive but it also makes right now worse because everyone longs for those teams.
It was a different economy then, the stadium was brand new and the Browns moved. It was the perfect storm. Naturally, being Cleveland, we couldn't bring in the elusive championship.

I have seen some good already from some of the acquisitions. Just have to get over the "adolescence" of this team for a couple years.
