This is why I love Gamestop

IT'S A PICTURE

TL;DR for those who didn't look at or understand the picture: traded four old, crappy games for $47 store credit, bought Uncharted 2 with the credit and only had to pay tax on the remaining balance (~$8)

Gamestop isn't always bad.

I take issue with you calling Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey 'crappy', sir. 😛

Jericho? Hell, you've got nobody to blame but yourself. 😛

Did you see how much credit Amazon would have given you instead? I can't see what games you traded in but they offered me $10 more than Gamestop for CoD: W@W.

*edit* NVM, I can see the pics and you got a pretty good deal with the promo and Edge bonus. Although you do have to pay for the Edge stuff so it sorta balances out.

Like your state's tax BTW, here it's 10% tax of the total price, that would have cost me $66.

I still got two of your trades (and sold ME recently)....LO and Jericho. Jericho I got free though and it does suck, LOL. I'm still on Disk one with LO and it's already starting to feel monotonous so it may be time to jettison it for $16....which is a good deal.

Ditto.

But even if I could, I feel like it does not make a lot of sense financially in the long run compared to renting or even reselling a game as soon as I'm finished with it. I guess it depends on when you bought the game and how much you paid.

Yea, I have trouble selling games. It didn't help that the last time I tried was a bunch of PSP games which no one wanted.

I wish you would have sold mass effect and lost odyssey to me instead of them. I would have at least matched their prices + shipping..but for convenience, they are handy

Not a bad deal. Although I too take offense at Mass Effect & Lost Odyssey being called crappy 😛

I traded in Uncharted 1 after I beat it towards a copy of Burnout Paradise. A year later I ended up buying it again, going to keep it this time, such a great game.

Fourth'd. I've become a hoarder since a couple years into the n64 days and haven't looked back. The only exception was intentionally buying games to trade in from other sales (IE, the Hollywood Video $4.99 sale)

I always offer my friends $1 more than GS is offering, plus the ability to borrow the game at any time, but their stupid asses are usually like "nah, I'll use the credit eventually."... as if they wouldn't use the CASH any damn time they want because it's not tied to a certain store!

I have a couple genres where I won't sell (RPGs, traditional 3D fighters), but the rest are fair game. I gotta go hunt down some of the older games in the Soul Calibur series sometime...

I figure if I've beaten a game and haven't played for at least two months, it's better to trade it in than have it sit unplayed. Plus the manual for LO was missing its cover and my OCD side won't let me keep an incomplete or messed up game.

I dont regret it, but I always keep them. Ive got over 40 PS3 games... and the list just keeps piling up.

I dont hate gamestop, I use them a lot. Buying used games with an edge card can give you great deals.

I can say I got Uncharted 2 for free yesterday though. Took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free Toys R Us deal.

When Marvel 2 came out I took them Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, and some other low end title and they had a bring in 3 360 games and get an extra 20% deal going on.

Marvel 2 cost me nothing but the tax.

So yes sometimes GS isn't too horrible.

Yea, I only rent games that don't feel like they have replay value. Then I buy the good ones.

GameStop occasionally has good deals, which a smart consumer will take advantage of, but overall, GS is a complete ripoff.

Such as their buy two used games, get the third for free. Using an edge card gets you 10% off the two used games to start with, thats about the only time I buy a used game from them.

Ive also caught a few guys going in to trade games/systems before. Got a PSP slim for $70, cause they were going to give him $50 something in trade in. He wanted cash, and they dont do that. Got a few games that way too. Just being at the right place at the right time.

Back when Rock Band 1 came out, they had some crazy trade in promo with old gameboy/gameboy color/gba games, that also stacked with edge, plus a bonus for putting it down on RB. I traded in a bunch of old crappy ass gameboy games and got RB paid in full. It was fantastic
