Cell phones shouldn't be banned... stupid people should be. (referencing the driver to the SUV that is)

she could have been reaching for the radio station dials and crashed into the bus.

I think his point is that a radio can be a distraction. That's true, although I find mine far less distracting than dialing numbers on my phone. As also mentioned nobody on this planet can maintain 100% attention to driving and still talk on their cellphone. I know I can't and quite clearly a lot of other people can't either. It's rather silly in fact, and though I do use mine while driving, I look forward to the inevitability of a nationwide ban of using them except for emergencies.Originally posted by: orion7144

so, you ignore the law against injecting yourself with heroin while driving law?
Get over yourelf.....some people need to be told what to do since they lack the common good judgement to refrain from stupid activities....that is why we have laws.Originally posted by: Atrail

Sometimes I want to inflict pain on women driving suvs and talking on cellphones. That particular combination enrages me.

I definitely have to agree on the soccer moms + SUV + cell phone combo. Hell, I can barely stand the package without the cell phone involved.
The fact is, at least in my experiences, if you use some common sense, talking on a cell phone is no more distracting than talking to a person in the passenger seat or changing the radio station.

No, but I want the government to tell you what to do in your car, because if you're not paying attention to the road you're putting ME in danger. This is not a civil liberties issue, it's a public safety issue.
