This is what you get for about $30 for a South Korean internet connection

It's funny but i've downloaded about 2 Terabytes from usenet this month. If i had this connection... dear god. I still have a lot of shit queued up too.

Nice! what are the speeds like if you test a server outside of korea? They have a very dense population...

Density of Seoul: 17288/km2

Density if NYC: 10630/km2
Density of Chicago: 4,447.4/km2
Density of LA: 3,168/km2 (If you count the whole metropolitan area, you drop to 1,000/km2)

Have a nice day =)

I hate people too much to have to stay that close to them. I'll stick with my 1.5mb connection and my 2800sq/ft of living space.

Lemme get this straight. My tax dollars are being spent to protect this country and its insane internet speeds, while I pay an arm and a leg for about one tenth the speed, and thats when I am lucky to get the full speed.

Something is fishy.

"What are you downloading?"
"Porn movies"
"Which ones?"
"All of them"

This sounds like the beginning of a good protest march

Megaphone: "What do we want? "
billigerent crowd: "PORN MOVIES!!!"

Megaphone: "Which ones do we want? "
billigerent crowd: "ALL OF THEM!!!"

Megaphone: "When do we want them? "
billigerent crowd: "NAO!!!!!"

Megaphone: "What do we want? "
billigerent crowd: "PORN MOVIES!!!"

It must be nice to live in a 1st world country.

I can not even get dsl where I live, and I live 4 miles from the county court house.

That's pretty awesome, but is it typical in all of S.Korea?

If there is a town of more than a couple hundred people, chances are it's going to have blazing fast internet.

I visit relatives every once in a while, and even in the backwater country towns that look like they haven't built anything new in 80 years, I can go into an Internet Cafe and enjoy playing online games on US servers with <150 ping.

For $30.. you can get a 1Mbps connection in India. It used to be 128k 5 years back. I have a 12Mbps line for $45 in the US right now.. I am doing fine with what I have now. Those speeds in S. Korea seem overkill to me..

Yeh, but I can look out my backdoor and see a big field. I will take my 6mb/s connection over their average population density any day.

It is almost as if these Asian countries are smaller, without as many rural areas that would not be profitable to run fiber to.....hmmm........
