But you do have your freedom of speech so i can't stop you.

Don't take this the wrong way, I mean it constructively.

If you don't want to hear critical opinions of your reviews, then do not release those reviews to the public. If you are going to be a reviewer, you need to get a thicker skin and act like a reviewer. What you say may affect someone's buying decision. Therefore, you are presenting your views to a wide audience and those views should be up for criticism. I hear people complaining about Roger Ebert's movie reviews all the time. What I don't hear is Mr. Ebert complaining about the criticism. The reason, he's learned that it comes with the special reviewers badge they give you. You have to just learn to live with the fact that anytime you publish something that is based at least partially on opinions, others will have differing opinions and will be criticize you for it.

Don't let the criticism (public or private) stop you from reviewing. You're doing a good job, especially for a first review. But like anyone doing anything, it can always be done better. Live and learn and press on.

I think this thread was good for you, man. This is nothing compared to the crap you are going to have to put up with if you keep up this sort of thing. If you take all this stuff personally, you will go nowhere fast. None of us know you, so why do you assume we are dissing you as a person? You just need to work on getting the facts right and making sure you know what you are talking about before you publish it (doing the second part will put you in the upper crust of hardware reviewers on the internet.)

Couple of tips. Never take info from a 3rd party. Go directly to the manufacturers website and compare it with the supplier. If there is a discrepency, call the manufacturer. Also, it seems you have a bit to learn about how sound works. You should always test the sound with your own equipment, and don't rely on manufacturer's claims, as these are based on very different conditions than what you have. Also, DBA is not a linear rating by any means. You need to learn what exactly it means and how the numbers compare to each other.

When an item is shipped OEM, you are ordering the item only, no fancy boxes or other software. If you want all the frills, order a Retail package.

I hope you can take my comments as not being overly negative. I really like the looks of your site. Now that you are a member of the AT forums, we hope you will stick around. We are expecting big things from you :)

Nothing improves your review skills like a good flame. I know first hand!

If Anand and the moderators don't mind, I will pre-release a few reviews here to get your feedback.
I think this is an excellent way to insure accuracy and to improve the review content.

Thanks guys for all your input. Rob will be just fine I think.

Best regards,

Hey Rob, first of all I want to congratulate you on your first review.

Second, you shouldn't be embarrased about mistakes.

People learn from their mistakes.

What would happen if you grammar teacher never corrected your spelling mistakes?

The lesson you learned will help you not to repeat it.

Good luck on your future reviews.

Thank you very much. I think BadAttitude's idea of pre-releasing some reviews here is an excellent idea! One thing, amcdonald, I'm not a professional...maybe thats why i dont act prefessional. Ever think of that? Even if i was a professional, i would not make my reviews look professional, because number one, reviewing is not considered to profession to me, and number two, i like to take a layed back approach to these reviews a long with providing persuading info where needed.

I would like to thank Viremia, ShinSa, ketchup79 and of course Bad Attitude for your excellent advice. I learned a lot from these people. The rest of you, who did not help me, and just talk shit....I have nothing to do with you and I hope you will change your critique ways. Maybe then I can learn from you...but not now.

You took my use of the word professional too literally. When I said "unprofessional behavior" I was trying to find a nice way to say you sound/act like a kid, and that you did not exhibit the experience/skill required to produce a decent product review.
I can make a website and say how much I like panaflo fans, but as soon as I build a reviews section and advise other people on products, a sense of responsibility must follow.
By far your most "unprofessional" behavior is your unwillingness to take criticism.
When you post a review, you have to expect that people will see it. Therefore doesn't it make sense to expect scrutiny from your peers?
The point to this thread was to warn people here that your review was not done well enough to warrant any real credit.
This is the only reason for the disrespect. You are taking this personally.
And to say that you will not take advice because you don't approve of the method is naive.
In order to grow in almost anything you need to get feedback, positive or negative.
Since this isn't abstract art, and we are computer professionals, I hope you can learn from what has been said.

I act like a kid because I am one, I can not be someone who I am not. But I will do my best to write better reviews in the future, i will be reviewing a Xoxide case this week and a water cooling kit soon, so keep your eyes peeled. I am sorry for me acting "un-pro" about this, like i said this is my first review and i did not expect to get feedback in the nature i did. But on my next reviews i will be ready for any positive or negative feedback i get from you guys, Thank you again.

Regards,

Rob @ PC eXtreme

Rob: Instead of responding to each comment posted, just get on with your next review! Your responses are starting to sound like whines...

Anyone looking to buy a Panaflo fan? Wanna know how they perform? Let me tell you where NOT to get advice from:

Link to the PC Extreme review

To make this as easy as possible for you, I'll list all of the specs of the Panaflo 80mm line:Q]

All those sponsors, nifty drawings, the in depth review, and tre kewl website, and they have to take product pictures on the floor?

Which pictures are you refering to? The ones in Rob's review were taken on a computer desk, not a floor. But, what difference would it make?
Thanks for the complements on the site though. :)

Take care,

Dwayne

I don't care if the only pictures are of monkeys eating the fans, as long as the review is good :)
