beer... that pics directory called tejas... that's not the tejas house is it? that balcony looks familiar in pic 12.

....yes it is....that was a year ago around this time

hehe, i know a couple of the tejas members... or three or four or five... used to go there my junior year but really didn't go much senior year

I kinda feel the same way. Tejas parties are just so massive it's unbelievable. It's a good idea if you're trying to meet people but it isn't conductive to much else besides drunken stupid stuff.....which is why we went last year

heh, true enough. i liked their coffees and went whenever i could. almost like an informal opportunity to hang out with whomever the speaker was.

NYers must mean NYCers... western NY here... I could OWN a house with 2 or 3 apartments like that for $550 a month.

Oregon has expensive rent?
Certainly more expensive than some other places, but by no means the most expensive, either.

I'd say its in the middle-high range.

cmon man, its TEXAS. That's like saying "my apt in tijuana is CHEAP. fvck all you 90210 assholes that are overpaying for rent!"

The california premium for living expenses goes into the "partying with Paris Hilton" fund. Texan living expenses directly contribute to the "cow tipping" fund. 'nuff said.

You've never been anywhere near Texas, be in Dallas or Austin or even Houston....have you?

Houston is NOT a good example. What a freakin' armpit of a town. Texas does have nightlife, and stuff to do though. Not on the same scale as LA, but it's livable.

BTW, when I saw the title again, I thought it would be funny if he had a picture of a girl: "This is what $500/month will get you in Texas!" *insert hot Texas babe*

When I lived in Indiana I got an 1100 ft² 2-bedroom apartment in a house in the center of town, plus free heat for $300.

that makes me happy since i hope to transfer to either UofT or Texas A&M next year

College Station has better bang for buck when it comes to rent. You can rent a nice 989 sq foot 2bed/2bath for $800. When I say nice, the same quality goes for $1200+ in Austin.

As for night life, Austin wins even though College Station is growing rapidly and more and more good clubs and such are opening.

College Station will never, ever be as nice as Austin. There's sooo many good clubs in Austin. And a lot of nice neighborhoods. Plus way more gay people than College Station.

Hook 'em. 🙂

I never said College Station would ever catch up to Austin. Theres a common misconception statewide and even nationwide, that all College Station has is the Dixie Chicken.

lol I didn't mean to create such a stir over UT and A&M. I'm actually trying to transfer into their business programs (accounting), but both are ranked fairly high in that field. Wish me luck 😀 Hope to get out of California within a year

A&M is 19th overall for Undergrad Business. UT is 5th. UT is ranked 1st for accounting programs. Overall for graduate Business Schools UT and A&M are tied at 23rd after UT moved down and A&M moved up.

A&M isnt so hot in Undergrad Buisness. UT is #1 in Accounting and #3 in Marketing. However A&M and UT are tied at 23 overall for Graduate Buisness Schools.

UH > UT & A&M 🙂

if the school is decent enough to be ranked, then it's good enough for me to consider 😀 My accounting choices in California are very slim. IIRC, I've only seen Berkeley and USC undergrad on any kind of list. My grades aren't good enough for those, and yeah I realized UT was way way way up there in accounting, and that's probably out of my reach too.

Maybe someone can help me with this (sorry for the thread hijack). When I called Texas A&M's transfer department, they said it was incredibly hard to transfer into their business program if you're an out of state student. Does anyone know what kind of grades I would need at time of application to be competitive? Remember this is transfering, not applying while in high school.

For in state transfers they say As and Bs. Id say 3.25-3.5. You will also want to have most of the course work specified on their website completed to be competitive.
