$550 a month including everything you see, plus 300 digital cable channels and 3.0 Mb cable...

<Bandwidth excceeded, fsck,>

Yea the camera was on a wrong setting when I took the pics so they're grainy...suck it up and BTW, it's not 56k friendly either.

Since all your SoCal/Oregon/NYers bitch about rent....weep mother fsckers!

Is this residence?! If so, omg that's great. But rent prices are very cheap in Texas. My ex only paid like $550 for her place, and i was amazed at the size of it (and a great neighborhood as well... it was a townhouse in a gated community in Ft. Worth).

I have a similar place in the bay area, and I pay about $900, which is a good deal. That's the bad part.
The good part is my job offers from the Bay Area were at least $10K more per year than those from Texas, so it balances out well ;)
If I was to buy a place I may consider moving to TX, but for renting it doesn't make much sense.

Weren't you just asking about shotguns for home defense because you questioned the place you live? I wouldn't trade off security for cheap rent personally.

Nice place, you have to give more details though. Like... sqft? bedrooms? next to whore house? etc.

This is pretty much true. Anywhere outside the campus area is pretty ghetto as a whole because of the way it's zoned. The neighborhood sucks. Neighboods suck anywhere in Austin unless you go way west, way north, or way south of campus, much too far to be convenient to anything.

In short, if it's convenient, it's a ghetto neighborhood. At least this place is entirely gated, with on-site security, and no gate codes, remote access only. It's the best they can do.

UT >> A&M for any engineering. Period.

Rankings reflect that. UT hovers between rank #1 and #10 for most of it's engineering programs nationally - EE is 9th or 10th or 11th nationally or something like that. Petroleum is #1 and Chemical is up there too.

That is kinda sad that you need a gun to feel safe in your own home. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
I was thinking about getting a shotgun to do some trap shooting. But I figure it's more hassle than it's worth here in CA.

That is true, UT Austin is right up there for EE, in the top 20 or better. Proximity to a lot of semiconductor companies design centers surely helps.
