I think you mistakenly see my statement as being one implying equivalence. My purpose was to point out that there are many dangers in our modern society. Too many have an inordinate fear of firearms while thinking nothing of utilizing an automobile which has an extremely higher possibility of inflicting death. I am pointing out the irrationality of the human psyche.

Last week; we had a white terrorist in Canada. In North Carolina a truck with explosives is driven into to a court house. And now, suspected couple goes around announcing a "revolution", while murdering 3 people.

These cops were armed and were killed in cold blood, their weapons then stolen from them. If you think that couldn't ever be you then you are really stupid. I'm a near lifetime gun owner and Second Amendment supporter. I am getting sick of this shit, something needs to be done.

Mark my words, if responsible gun owners don't get behind some responsible changes in the law, a day will come when public outrage will build to the point that politicians will overreact and enact draconian gun laws.

Then part of your comment is bunk. I'll admit that even if the civilian killed at Walmart was a CCW holder and did intervene, it is hard to determine what their involvement did to change the course these two perpetrators took.

As a gun owner and CCW holder myself, this event made me sick... Three in a single week and all I can think is that I'm going to ultimately be forced to give up my firearms because we can't find a way to identify these loons before they act... and realistically, I'm not sure we can identify them all anyway... But I bet we could snag what? 50%?

Lets look at these three events though.

Seattle: A man who was obsessed with school shootings and even made a pilgrimage to Columbine... Proof that the 24/7 media's sensationalizing of these events drive people's choice of target.

Atlanta: A soon to be sentenced/convicted drug dealer who decided to target the system that was about to incarcerate him. He was there to specifically target law enforcement and judicial system employees. He was a criminal, he did not legally own his weapons.

Las Vegas: Specifically targeted Law enforcement. That is distinctly different than wanting the drama of inflicting mass carnage of children, everyday citizens.

A technical point but I concede. My point was that, at least in Canada, you have to have trigger locks, locked gun cabinets, store ammo separate.. I mean the home invader better give you 5 minute notice to get your shit together if you know what I mean.

That is what loud dogs and alarms are for in the home. They give you the time to become alert, and retrieve your weapon. Mine are in a push button wall safe. 5 digit combo and in 5 seconds I am in and have my loaded weapon. Do not rely on the sound of the intrusion itself, it will be too late... And please do not sleep with your firearm at your bedside. Within a few paces is all you need if you have an alarm for early warning.

The worst thing about this is, if they truly thought they were 'starting a revolution', then shooting a couple of foot soldiers of the opposing side is basically the most retarded way to go about accomplishing a successful revolution, especially when the other side has craploads more foot soldiers than you do. They'd have been far more effective, and garnered far more sympathy, if they'd instead targeted high value targets worth the cost of their lives. For F's sakes crazies, at least make it worth your while!
