As everyone knows, I have been trying to get RossMAN to STOP SPENDING. Apparently its not gettting through. Even though Ross does not want me posting it, I am showing everyone here the RossFile. I am 100% serious in its contents and accuracy. This originally started out as a joke, but you can see the contents for yourself.

/Begin RossFile.

QUOTE- RossMAN on "Advance Car Sale Planning" 4-24-02
One website I'm going to create is to accomplish the impossible. sell my salvage titled 94 Corolla. I'll put an ad in the local newspaper with some great stats and an incredible price and point them to www.buyme.info or something like that it's gotta be a short catchy URL, I won't mention that it's a salvage title anywhere on the website until they contact me THEN I'll give them the bad news."

QUOTE- PAB 4-24-2002
"ross......dude. run the corolla into the ground"

ACTION- RossMAN on "Car Sale" 8-6-2002
I think we all know how that one went. Check here if you forgot

QUOTE- RossMAN 4-20-02
"I should wait until December 31, 2002 to buy a 2003 model."

OFFHAND QUOTE- PAB 4-24-2002
"IMHO, save the $ for when you get an accord" (joke)

QUOTE- RossMAN 6-06-2002
"On the other hand I just saw a few Maxtor 80GB FireWire's going for about $142 now that's a nice price and no MIR...I hate these tough decisions"

QUOTE- PAB 6-06-2002
"its not too tough...i'd save the bucks. put it towards the accord fund." (joke)

ACTION- RossMAN 6-08-2002
NOT 48 HOURS LATER!!!
----------------------------------------------------
ACTION- PAB 7-1-2002
*Explains to Ross how using a garbage bag, duct tape and some rubber bands is better than spending $ on a cast protector*

ACTION- RossMAN 7-2-2002
*Buys cast protector for $20 here*
----------------------------------------------------

QUOTE- RossMAN 4-21-2002
"...after I do buy a new car I will have like $300-$500 car payments and that will definitely curb me from hot deals"

ACTION- RossMAN 7-25-2002
"Just bought a Canon PowerShot A40 for $249 @ OfficeMax B&M..."

/End RossFile.

Although some of those instances arent 100% related, we have a problem here. RossMAN is spending way too much money. RossMAN's purchases in one year rival the gross national product of a small african nation.

I have tried so many times to convince him to get out of debt and stop spending. The LCD thread was just ONE of the many instances.

Now, I only have one thing to say to RossMAN:

You're on your own. I dont care anymore.

I am GODDAMN FVCKING sick and tired of it. I've had it with you. *kicks trashcan across room*

You just dont get it do you? I make jokes about freezing your credit cards, having an intervention, but apparently its not getting through. You have a problem. For the love of Jeebus, I'm 10 years younger than you and I can put 25% down on a 2 bedroom 2 bath.

You are 28 years old so why dont you start acting like it? I dont have the time and I dont have the energy to keep holding your hand and telling you why not to buy something. I am sick and tired of it.

Somebody else do this. I'm done here.

MrsSkoorb: RossMAN is not in denial. He realizes the problem. Wether he choses to do something about it is another story.

RossMAN: if you have comments to what I've said here, you know the number. If I'm out, my voicemail is on, leave a message.

AnandTech Moderator: If you want to lock this: fine. If you want to give me a vacation: fine. If you want to ban me: fine. But I want the mods to know something. Everything said here is true. If I have to get banned or given a vacation because I've got the guts to open the eyes of a member blind to his own actions in a public forum so be it.

If you're done with this then why are you posting this thread?

I've already cancelled my Dell order, sold my Best Buy PC to a friend and 2 digicams to co-workers for a total of $650.

So $937 - $650 = $287 out of my pocket.

OMG!

:p

Why is it whenever I post a serious thread it becomes a haven for tongue smileys and "lol"'s?

Why is this everyone's business? Why can't a guy do what he wants with his own money? He may not be smart with his money, but why does the whole world have to know about it? If you wanna help him privately ,that's nice, but his affairs should be his affairs.

But you say it yourself, he's not blind to his own actions: "RossMAN is not in denial. He realizes the problem."

Short of slapping Rossman's hand everytime he reaches for the credit card, it's ultimately up to him how he's going to handle his spending. If he wants to get help, he'll get help. You've already done your part, now let him do his.

Oh, you cancelled an order you were going into debt for? Well that doesn't count, you're still going into debt for it.

And the BB PC + cameras, you were in debt for those two.

So it's still $937 out of your pocket.

Nice try though.

Are you a "fvcking" moron? Read what I bolded and italicized, and what you wrote. Let's play "Guess Where PsychoAndy Screwed Up" shall we? That's right - where it says "Ross does not want me posting it" - congratulations!

That took "guts"? No, that took stupidity, a quick set of typing hands, and a click-happy mouse finger. "Guts" would have been telling him face-to-face, or phone, or PM, or whatever - this info. And then having him cut back on his own and clear things up - oh wait, he's doing that on his own right now. Sheesh. Let Ross clear up his own debt.

I cast my vote for the Angry Mod to come down from the clouds to deliver the smiting. Mind you, the Fun Mod could probably do it with a snappy one-liner that would leave us all rolling in the wake of PAB's departure ... heck, they all have a distinct personality all their own.

PAB - sit down. Cool off. Have a drink, smoke, game of UT, whatever it is that helps you blow off steam.
Stick around the AT forums.

*zips up Nomex suit*

You may now return flame, PAB.

PAB, chill out there man. Yes RossMAN does have a spending problem and he knows it. Maybe if the mean mod blocked his access to the hot deals forum he could save a little $$.

Glad you finally sold some stuff RossMAN.

<----needs to go sell some stuff himself so I can pay this freakin credit card bill:Q

For the love of Jeebus, I'm 10 years younger than you and I can put 25% down on a 2 bedroom 2 bath.
What does that have to do with anything?

Most 28 year olds can't put that much down.

This would have been better done through pm or e-mail.

PAB: Sometimes no matter how much we want to, we can't change people. You can give advise, offer help and insight, but in the end, it's not up to you.

Heck yeah, man!!! A 2-2 in a nice neighborhood will run about $120K in "Average Middle Class America." I doubt you have $30K just lying around.

$287.00 that could be put towards your credit card debt.

When do you plan on buying your house? Age 40?
