I'm watch this video from Bryan Lunduke on what the EU now considers to be Terrorism, such as the Bible, A Tale of Tow Cities, C-SPAN, and yes even Peter Rabbit.

Seriously? It sure looks like the EU doesn't respect Free Speech at all and is starting to slide into becoming a dictatorship. Those of you that live in the EU, what is being done to fight this? Maybe you guys should start downloading classic works so that if the EU does enforces this, you can still read them if you want.

Yea, sure, ok

https://bit-tech.net/news/tech/software/archiveorg-hit-by-false-terrorist-takedown-notices/1/

:)

EU is taking steps to preventing misinformation sources akin to ie. infowars and breitbart to take root here.
I am torn, I think that is borderline, on one hand wtf, on the other hand, information and facts is under attack by those who wants to take us down (coughputincough). Maybe EU observed Fox, Breitbart, Infowars, Sinclair etc. and how all THAT is turning out for you guys and thought "nope, not here".

OP, you're getting to be like that relative who keeps forwarding chain letters. Discernment isn't a bad thing.

UPDATE 1640:
Europol, of which the EU IRU is a division, has denied sending takedown notices to the Internet Archive, placing the blame firmly on the shoulders of the French national IRU. 'All 25 URLs mentioned in the blog have been referred to the Internet Archive by the French IRU Unit, using the EU IRU's Internet Referral Management Application (IRMa) in April 2019,' explains Europol spokesperson Jan Op Gen Oorth. 'EU Member States are using dedicated email addresses via IRMa to channel their referrals. Hosting Service Providers have been informed that even though the emails are sent from Europol's domain, the content is assessed and referred by the relevant Member State.
'Member States are also requested to add their signature to the emails to make clear the referrals come from them and not from the EU IRU,' Op Gen Oorth adds, though it is not immediately clear whether these signatures were in place on the messages received by the Internet Archive and originally believed to be from the EU IRU.
The French Ministry of the Interior has been contacted for further comment.

Looks like the Frenchies messed up a bit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it is my understanding the EU government itself isn't exactly a democracy. Not if if the EU and it's member States are allowed to have this kind of power.

It was the French government, not the EU, who made those takedown demands. Haven't seen your video yet, but the article is sparce on facts. My educated guess is that the French saw something, or a few things, that they considered terrorist propaganda in one or more very large archives and instead of demanding that they take those specific things down, they demanded taking down entire archives. I doubt they actually care about Peter Rabbit.

Still, this new EU content regulation sounds like a very bad idea. I don't like it at all.

Jordan Peterson, anyone?

We create what we fear. In America the right has used fear of the left to attain political power in a terrifying and irrational manner including self destruction by climate change and white nationalism, wage inequality, poor healthcare and many other things.

This terrifies the political left that exists elsewhere in the world who quickly move to terrify the right with their own brand of authoritarianism.

Welcome to the machine.

Everything we fear has already happened.

Don't confuse people with factual information. They only want to hear what they want to believe anyway.
OK pardon me, it was a French government agency that sent there warnings. But still, considering that the EU and many of its member Nations have the power to pass these kinds of laws iand enforce them the first place should worry their citizens a great deal.

The French government can enforce something on behalf of the EU?
- Nope.
Can the French government pass something on behalf of the French government?
- Yes.
Can the French people vote to dumbasses out of government next election?
- Depends of how much misinformation Putin decides to inject next round I guess.

Europes member states are true democracies, the good, the bad and the inbetween. - And that alone is reason enough for us to be a threat to Putin and kin .. Dont drink their coolaid.

EU is on track to integrate its memberstates to a higher degree, at some point to resemble something akin the the US, but for now we dont even have an EU armmy.

It's always a major headache with anything EU-related to work out what is a silly scare-story by overwrought EU-haters and what is genuinely bad EU policies (those are usually the result of corporate special-interest lobbying).

I'm waiting for gmail to give me that tab that autofilters out the "crazy uncle FWD FWD FWD FWD FWD emails" right next to "Updates" and "Social" tabs.

I mean, if I didn't already know that he was actually my uncle from SC, I would swear they were all coming from @highland145
