This is so weird...

It's not strange. It's 3DMark. If you have a super powerful processor (8k pts lets say) and crappy video card (1k pts) your 3D score shouldnt be 9k. Also if you have a crap cpu (1k) and an awesome video card (8k) your score shouldnt be 9k because the system can't perform that well in gaming. However if you have great both a score around 16k makes sense.
The score reflects how well you should do in gaming. So if you have a overclocked quad-core and integrated gfx, a high score due soley to your cpu would give you a false "gaming score".
 
cards score 5k and 4k .. but processor around 3k... is that normal. to have a lower score in the cpu.. with a quad?

newsflash! You don't use 3dmark anymore! Everyone else still uses it!

There isn't a review on the internet that doesn't have 3dmark as part of the benchmarks.
 
but MOST of those reviews tell you that they don't take 3dmark seriously and just include it anyways. Actually some like anand tend to stick to game only benchies.
