NEW YORK - Three federal lawsuits seeking unspecified reparations for the 35 million descendants of African slaves were filed Tuesday against the Aetna insurance company, the FleetBoston financial services group and railroad giant CSX.

The lawsuits also claim that as many as 1,000 unidentified corporations may have profited from slavery and sometimes helped it continue in the United States between 1619 and 1865.

Any damages would be put into a fund to improve health, education and housing opportunities for blacks, said attorney Roger Wareham, one of a group of lawyers who prepared the lawsuits. The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status.

I was sitting in my Grandmas living room when I heard about it... I really don't care either way, but as soon as she heard about black people trying to get money... well... lets just say the bigot in here came out...

I know the article says 1600's, but from what I heard, they are mostly concerned with stuff in the 1800's...

...minus the hefty lawyer fees the lawyers take home :disgust:
Lets see... 20% of 1 billion dollars.... that would be 200 million dollars! No, they're not in it for the money at all

hehehehe this is funny i just red a post about this at our colleges student forum. and all of us here share the same sentiments. what happened in the fuccin past happened in the fuccin past. get over it!!!!! sh!t does this mean i can sue someone for being itialien because my ancestors were misstreated????

these people need to get lives

First cure to this crap is to stop calling minorities names like "African Americans" or " mexican americans" you eather american or you not!! if you were born here you fuccin americian. and you may happen to be of color but you still an american. an "Aferican american" would be someone whi imigrated from africa and obtained US citizenship. quite a big difference there.

so to all thoes out there who like tocomplain and are sue happy

SHUT THE FU*K! UP GET A REAL JOB! AND STOP ACTING LIKE A STUPID SH!T

All i gotta say is, if this goes thru, who's with me for a "white american" lawsuit, hey hurry someone find somewhere a white man was mistreated a hundered or two hundred years ago!

But seriously, if i found out a way to show that my ancestor was "mistreated" by a company still around i don't think it would hold up, i strongly feel that what happend to those people were wrong but c'mon, we , the people living today had nothing to do with it.
