I don't think that it's morally right to insult a good person on their deathbed, but the kind of pop-spearheaded inaction that the church has shown toward these sick priests (IE paying out for losses but not trying to control the priests themselves) is disgusting. FOr that, the pope doesn't need to have jokes thrown at him. That is wrong. Contempt should not be hidden simply for someone's physical state, though!

You are a fvcking genius! Tell that to all the devoted Catholics around the world.

These forums are populated with snotty teenagers who think they know everything about anything and are so cynical nothing impacts them. Show so respect for the death of holy man, sheesh.

He didn't speak out against pedeophillia[sic] and that is indeed a very big character flaw, but should we insult him on his death bed?

Sorry...I had just seen some ridiculous crap on TV and it just set me off:|

Your post is yet another reminder why I don't watch the local news Goosemaster; :( isn't it?

I can't help but think to get to the top of a religion as corrupt as the catholic church the guy must not be an angel? Just my two cents.

But I agree it's no reason to talk trash about an ailing man on his death bed.

Just what I gathered from reading this thread. People act like generalizations are a bad thing and if one time it does not fall true, that it's invalid. Not everone is a snotty cynical teenager, but a large portion are.

SaberDicer, you've been here a few months w/ your current user-name, so please do not generalize the average age of ATOT posters ;)

Ah, the high and mighty atheist. Trying to put down the dirty and unsophisticated religious people.

Have the Danish people sunk that low? I guess years of drugs, sex orgies and no morals does that to you.

By his religion dieing do you really mean the more than 1 billion Catholics should die? Why, I thought athiests such as yourself were high and holy and tolerant.

You're a one sick person.

We all judge people by our own particular standards.

By my standards I believe this particular person, the Pope, should rot in the Hell he believed in so fervently because of his indifference to the suffering of countless children.

The fact that he is a Pope is irrelevant, he is just another sack of flesh and bones who had the power and authority to prevent the suffereing of uncountable children.

No, I do not respect him or his death.

Hahahahahahahaha!! Oh man... that was funny. I don't give a flying f*ck about the Pope except that it's funny to joke about him. Just because I find it amusing to joke about his imminent death, does that mean I have less respect for human life? Quite possibly. But don't play high and mighty with me. A little disrespect here and there doesn't make you a bad human. Since when is the measure of one's character how nice they are to a stranger on an internet board the stranger in question will never read because his eyes are too crusted over to see?

Summary: I don't have to be nice if I don't want to.

This Pope's life has been helping the poor and suffering. What have you done?

No doubt he is a regular human being, but don't lie just to promote your baseless agenda. You are blinded by your hateful ideology. Keep your ignorance to yourself, please.

This Pope was a leader and was and is one of the greatest men to ever live. He has accomplished so much over his term than probably any other Pope preceding him, particularly in trying to reach out to the other religions and others parts of the world.

There isn't a corner of the globe he hasn't been to, no matter how ill and frail he was.

You know, the ones throwing around the most insults are the ones with supposed "morals", who think we should show nothing but respect for this dying man. I haven't seen one person who disagreed with the original poster call anyone else on this board anything derogatory. Statement of opinions is ALWAYS a good thing. Don't ever forget that.

So who here has the moral high ground? The guy who respects freedom of expression, and repects people whose opinions differ from his own, or the guy calls his fellow forum members "animals" if they don't agree with him?

I have given him his due. He has done, perhaps, more than any previous Pope. That said, 100 attaboys are negated by 1 Oh Shyt in real life.

Why didn't he take care of his own house before preaching to others? It would have been relatively easy for him.

I don't know why, but I would be interested in hearing. Is it because of their brotherhood? Perhaps because if they started kicking out all the pedophile priests they wouldn't be able to fill all the money making slots they have open?

Maybe they truly believe that no matter what you do it is all forgiven by God by saying "I'm sorry" and going on with their pitiful lives.

Tell me, I want to know.

A religion where priests prey on kids and the only things they can do to fight back is sue the people is just wrong. The priests should be in jail right now.

As I said, I just got set off, and I was wrong in demanding that everyone respect him:)

its not about judgements, standards, or opinions. its about knowing when to say your piece or just let it go. about having the honor, decency, discipline and maturity to know the difference. no one has to respect anyone, but its a measure of someones character to know when to let loose or hold back. just beacuse you can think it and say it doesnt mean you should, unless you really just dont care about anyone at all and have the need to make yourself feel better at others expense.
