Drudge and Fox News report that a Democratic "activist" is the driving force behind the story.

I can almost feel the impending flames about Fox News. But, we've all heard it before.

Fox

Drudge

MSNBC has a video clip of an interview with the reporter who "broke" the story. She was tipped off by an attorney, who was the aformentioned Democratic delegate.

Yup, and it was a Democrat that held the bottle to his head and told him to drink. What's missing in this story is the Republican that jerked Kennedy's wheel as he drove by the river. The bumbling Demos couldn't even get a plant in the car. Lucky Bush.

But if you look at it, I don't think that will really affect the voters anyway. Look at the Clinton Scandal. He still our Prez right. In order for them to get the Peoples votes it depends for what they will be doing for our country..not what they did in the past like 2 decades ago.

Why would anyone flame FOX News Channel? They broke the story among the national news networks.

But, if you look at the chain of events from the FOX link (which the reporter also told on Nightline last night)

"Portland Fox affiliate reporter Erin Feahlau said she was at the Cumberland County Courthouse covering a story Thursday when a police officer told her she overheard a lawyer and a judge talking about Bush's arrest 24 years ago." She then went to the atty after trying to dig the info up herself.

Now, the atty is the Dem guy.

But the police officer was the one who started the reporter on this story. If the cop was in collusion with the atty, then it's a setup. If not ...

Moral interpretude is only important when it's a trait of the opposition candidate. Looks like Bush lied about driving too slow too. Seems he ran off the road and sped away. Hehe. My My My Aren't politicians wonderful. I wanted to protect my children. HAHAHAHAHA!

It?s just a pathetic 11th hour attempt by the Democrats to derail the Bush campaign. I was waiting for something like this to come all along. If all they could dig up was a two-decade-old violation, they really have nothing left on the guy.

I can?t wait to see what the Hillary camp digs up on Lazzio. That guy has to be clean as a whistle if Hillary?s muck-diggers can?t find anything on him.

I am curious.... How many in the 'all drunk drivers must be punished severely' thread are STILL voting for Bush now?

I never planned to vote for him. I'm not saying I like Gore, but I do have a talent for sniffing out character, and Bush just aint it. He's a puppet, and a dim one at that. Gore is a smarter puppet, wooo hooo!

This is about what party you are voting for. I can't believe anyone here is actually enamored of Bush or Gore. We all know they both suck. Blah. I can't wait until it is over and we can start blaming everything on the new president!

:D :D :D

What other thread? Why would a mod need to lock this thread? This thread is very benign,IMHO.

I don't think the mods are prone to closing down 1st amendment rights in these types of discussions. They are as passionate about their politics as anyone else. Everyone should be as passionate as me and others about their politics. Its your future that is at stake. Its what you pay or do not pay in taxes, its about how and what laws will be enacted that may directly or indirectly affect your life. Its about how this country is viewed by foreign leaders and its about how the markets will react to shifting economic vistas.

Mods keep things civil. Even the combatents respect that. We push the envelope at times, but I have seen threads locked on discussions of sex and perversion more than politics. The mods do their job just fine.

Enjoy the dialog.;)

This is the thread i am referring to:

DUI Thread

If you read through it you will see that it has deteriorated into personal attacks where none are warranted. Attributable to the passion of politics I presume.

Of course there is nothing wrong with political passion, but there is something wrong with fanatics.

Why is this brought up the week before the election? They just found out about it now? I fail to believe that.

I do not know your position and I will refrain from making any specific comments, I just think this is gutter politics/strategy.

Believe me, I am well aware of what is at stake.

Well, I am in that thread and feel thats where the discussion should remain. It is lively. But its a lively issue.

The title of this thread is an attraction and implys that the DNC leaked the story in the 11th hour, and therefor is playing dirty politics.

Fact.
A reporter over heard a conversation by a local police officer that Bush had been arrested for DUI and she used her investigative skills to get the facts. The converstation overheard was between the officer and the lawyer who was a previous delegate.(totally irrelevant,I might add!) The story broke on a Fox network affiliate purely on the merits of the information this young reporter garnered from public record. The lawyer did not advance this, nor did he deny it. You conspiricy buffs can go look for a connection, but you will not find one. Just like you couldn't find a conspiricy in whitewater,at the cost to the taxpayers of over $50,000,000.!

It's funny to watch FOX now push the Dem connection very hard.

Their reporter went to the guy and asked him for the info.

Hardly dirty politics.

Hmmm duke, I guess the following is wrong then?
"Tom Connolly, a Democrat who led an unsuccessful campaign for governor of Maine in 1998, was responsible for leaking to a reporter that Bush was arrested 24 years ago in Kennebunkport, Maine.
"
Full story:
Leak

But this makes me feel much better- "In a telephone interview with CNN's Daryn Kagan broadcast live shortly before noon EST, Connolly said he had released the Bush DUI information to a Maine TV reporter as "an act of democracy"

An act of democracy????

I guess everyone knows the Bush family has a home in Kennebunkport???

Lo, this is too funny.

You guys are leaving out how it started.

A cop asked the Reporter about the story, if it was true.

The reporter then asks the atty.

If anything, you should be questioning the motives of the cop.

You all are leaving step A out and going right to step B.

Or counting to 10 by starting at 2.

[Info Added]
Lot's of people know about the Kennebunkport house. It's been in the Bush family for a long time. President Bush used to have vacations and press conferences there.
He used to love racing his cigarette boat around the waters (and used to cut the lines of the lobster traps of the local fishermen there).

How is Bush still alive then?

"He used to love racing his cigarette boat around the waters (and used to cut the lines of the lobster traps of the local fishermen there)."

That's one thing you DO NOT mess around with!
Duke, do you remember if he payed for any lost catch/traps?

Well, I'm sure the Secrect Service kept Poppy Bush safe.
In New England, dont ever screw with a man's lobster traps!

Don't remember if restitution was made, I remember the lobstermen being pissed off.

Dick Cheney thought it was a good idea to disclose his 2 DUI's when he was nominated for Defense Sec.

Wait! Are you trying to insinuate that the Democrats don't want Bush to win the election? I find this very surprising?

What is sad is that Mr. Personal responsibility, Mr. Accountability, Mr. Truthfull would hide this whole incident from his FAMILY for 24 years:

Jeb Bush was quoted today as saying that "He knew nothing" about the DUI arrest of GW Bush.

What else is the guy hiding?

1) As Russ said, a PBS report had this months ago. Strange that the "Liberal Media" that you all complain about have not been hammering bushlite with this since the spring.

2) It is not what he did 24 years ago that is so important...it is his coverup of the incident right up until the day someone asked him about it. This goes straight to character...something the Republicans have been hammering us with for almost a year...
