If the mods think it should be moved please have at it!!

It is time for all of us to suck it in and admit that perhaps Officer Wilson was correct and made the best decisions he could under the circumstances!!

I have read almost everything about the Grand Jury and the testimony of Officer Wilson and I listened and read what the DA said when he announced the verdict!

Do we have a problem in the United states with the Police -- YES, we do!

But in this case I believe we need to walk away and be proactive another day!!

I am very sure that rioting and such will not solve the problem!
In fact all this rioting is doing is taking away peoples means to support themselves!
Why burn down a business that is not yours and that you know the owner uses to make money to feed and cloth and take care of his family?

I am a firm believer that most of the Police Officers in the US given the opportunity will do whatever they can to violate our rights!
If it means they will not get caught! -- This is my opinion, it is not up for discussion!

I also believe we need to still be respectful of the position! But being respectful does not mean being like sheep led to the slaughter!

YES-- some of what Officer Wilson has said and been quoted as saying does not make sense or add up, but you must remember this man was IMO obviously fearful for his life before and especially after this took place.

Officer Wilson forever will be in fear of his life!
Why? Because in our society there are people who for no good reason will IMO pursue this individual and his family or maybe even his friends!

Finally -- I still have my personal opinions - right or wrong they are mine and as should you! But I draw the line at destruction of property and hurting each other and even more importantly I draw the line when it comes to somebody living in fear the rest of their life!

This is probably one of those things that seriously could have went either way......but it didn`t and we need to respect the process until it can be changed legally!!0 -- I know...

None of these people I am sure will have a happy Thanksgiving!!

To everyone on these forums -- Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

We already have a thread here in OT and in P&N.

Confine your thoughts to one of those threads.

Happy turkeyday to you too.

Some of those people will be happy because they have a new 60" flat screen.

This is April 29, 1992 all over.

April 26th, 1992
There was a riot on streets
Tell me where were you?
You were sittin' home watchin' your TV
While I was participating in some anarchy
First spot we hit it was my liquor store
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford
With red lights flashin', time to retire
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire
Next stop we hit, it was the music shop,
It only took one brick to make the window drop
Finally we got our own P.A.
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?

When we returned to the pad to unload everything
It dawned on me that I need new home furnishings
So once again we filled the van until it was full
Since that day my livin' room's been much more comfortable
'Cause everybody in the hood has had it up to here
It's getting harder, and harder, and harder each and every year
Some kids went in a store with their mother
I saw her when she came out she was gettin' some Pampers
They said it was for the black man
They said it was for the Mexican
And not for the white man
But if you look at the streets, it wasn't about Rodney King
In this fucked-up situation and these fucked-up police
It's about comin' up and stayin' on top
And screamin' 1-8-7 on a mother fuckin' cop
It's not in the paper, it's on the wall
National guard
Smoke from all around

I mostly agree. One thing though. I don't think officers get up in the morning salivating over how many civil rights they'll be violating that day. I think it's more like they're just trying to do their jobs 90% of the time and if in the course of that their interpretation of your civil rights gets a bit "loose" when it benefits them, they don't sweat it too much.

Do we have a problem in the United states with the Police -- YES, we do!
Like what? What is the nature of this problem?

But in this case I believe we need to walk away and be proactive another day!!

Why would we walk away from our problems? That doesn't sound like a very good idea. I propose dealing with any problems in an intelligent and professional manner, not running away from them. The time to deal with problems is when they happen, when they are fresh in people's minds. Not another day after people have forgotten all about it.

Speaking of problems being fresh in people's minds this reminds me of the time when my life got turned upside down. It was in West Philadelphia where I was born and raised. On the playground, that's where I spent most of my days. Chillin, maxin and relaxin all cool playin some bball outside of the school when a couple of guys that were up to no good, started makin trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said you'll move in with your aunty and uncle in bel air. I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and had a dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought, nah forget it, yo holmes to Bel Air! I pulled up to the house about seven or eight And I yelled to the cabby, "Yo holmes, smell you later" Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there. To sit on my throne as the prince of Bel Air. So basically the moral of this story is that smart businesses will move out of bad neighborhoods after they git burned down and leave the hood to rot like detroit. Then we up in bel aire will have nice people and all the shitty trouble makin ones can stay back home. We be sittin back chillin maxin relaxin out by the pool when a couple of guys started askin me about gentrification, I said gentrification transmogrification all I know about is transubstantiation I ain't got no education!

So basically the moral of this story is that smart businesses will move out of haunted neighborhoods like that after they git burned down and leave the hood to rot like detroit. I'm wondering why you're wasting so much time on this news story. I haven't given it much thought personally. Don't really care.

"This is my opinion, it is not up for discussion"...well everyone's entitled to their opinion but why are you starting another thread, is your "opinion" so important it could not be posted in the ongoing thread about the events?.

Actually I said something about people forgetting, and I am somebody. Lest you forget that.

I made my case for why this is the proper time. You haven't made your case for why you think it isn't. Just baseless accusations that I participated in looting. If I participated in looting, would I want to deal with the problems that facilitated a looting spree sooner or later when people have moved on to the next story that grabs headlines? Make no mistake, this and the Cosby rape allegations may be the topic of the day now but soon they will be out of the spotlight and we'll have moved on to something else.

You have a nice Thanksgiving too!! The reason the following is not up for discussion is because my thread is about understanding that Officer Wilson was most likely probably correct in his response and as such the truth be told nothing he could have done would have been the correct thing in some peoples eyes.
Just like you want to discuss the following-- I am a firm believer that most of the Police Officers in the US given the opportunity will do whatever they can to violate our rights!
If it means they will not get caught!
There is nothing that can be said that will change my mind! Other than what SlitheryDee said--
