I never get mad over broken hardware...hey..maybe just bad luck, and I will proceed to purchase a new one.

This is about Memorex CDRW.

Bought it earlier this year w/ this CD-RW4424 model for my sister.

She hardly use it, then it breaks!
I called the memorex tech for RMA, they told me they must have "error code" before proceed.

So I have to waste another media and just to get the error code.

Call them back and give them the error code, which they notice it is Hardware failure.

Now, they ask me where is my receipt.

"No receipt, no RMA".....

You could have told me before I go waste another media and time, just get your error code!!!!!!!

WHAT is the deal w/ this?????????? It is from Memorex, and manufacture sticker clearly state "Dec. 1999"

NEVER EVER buy MEMOREX!!!!! UNLESS you going to KEEP the RECEIPT for ONE long year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Memorex is a HORRIBLE company. I had a CDROM from them that sped up and down ALL the time.... it crapped out.... and as you.. no receipt no RMA even tho the sticker said it was manufactured 2 months before. I talked to a manager and got the RMA... never got it never cared I didnt want another one of their drives anyways.

You usually don't need a receipt to RMA hardware. Unless your serial number shows as STOLEN then you have problems.

Memorex are bottom feeders. Their CD-R media is designated "Low Quality" by CDMediaWorld: Rating.

urbantechie:

feel like I was insulted w/ your remark though..."stolen"?
I got those drive from Staple ($99.99, which was great deal during that time)...regardless where I got it, they didn't even ask about where or serial number of my drive.

they simply don't want to give me RMA because I don't have a receipt.

call them back and tell them you bought it online....

then if they ask for the reciept... just buy one from a site.. alter the HTML to reflect the correct date and then print it:)

also make sure you cancel the order before it ships.... and order from a very nice site that is good about order cancalations:)

damn man, make a reciept... all you gotta do is take a reciept from someplace youve ordered before, change the item and totals to reflect that drive and print it out. sure its not ethical but in cases like this screw the asshole company.

well, that is all I buy now really. The stuff is very cheap (like $1/each in retail packaging w/ jewel case...and that is in Canadian dollars) and I've never had problems with it. Oh, and I could care less if my CD-R's last 5 years or 100 years.
