Alright, at least the car is.

Beware! Someone painted your licence plate! (Yes, it hurts.) Why would you cover your plate by the way? What could happen to you? Seriously?

How do you keep people from...uhm....stealing your plate number when you are driving? Or the car is sitting in your driveway?

Here is my car. What do you all think it says about me? I think it says not very practical and likes to have fun?

People who buy Volvos are *cough* different *cough*

What does it say about you?

You wear birkenstocks

You are a perfectionist

You are anal retentive

You have very few freinds

When you buy a car, which is not often, you drive the salesperson nuts.

your monthly contribution to your IRA is bigger than your grocery bill

Volvo buyers are most likely to breast feed their babies in public

You are never happy

As a manager of a car dealership, we'd rather not wait on you. Volvo buyer also like to show up right at closing time, then want to drvie every car on the lot, before making a decision. Fine! But how can you expect that level of service at 10:pm?

2004 Volvo S40

Post your car or post your comments.
Without the license plate, your car says "average to moderately successful and practical".

With the license plate, it says all of the above along with either that you have a sense of humor, or that, while you are safe, you aren't terribly much fun and probably have 2.5 kids permanently in the back seat of that car.

That 8 series is hot. Awesome car.

which is it? the 845? or the 850?

the 850 is the V12 one i think, much prefer the V8 from the 845.

I though both were V12s.

edit:my bad, there were V8s.

Only ~7000 cars for the North American market....

I posted this in the other thread:
Actually it's an 840. I decided against an 850, because if anything ever went wrong with the V12, it would kill me. The V8 in the 840 is much more common, parts are cheaper, it's easier to work on, it weighs a little less, and it gets slightly better mpg. The performance doesn't quite match the V12, but it's a much better choice, all things considered (IMO).

I hear from other owners that you can expect to budget about $2 - 3k a year for maintenance / repairs on the 8s. But I do most of my own work, plus this one just had a lot of stuff done to it (brakes, suspension, exhausts) plus it appears VERY well kept, so hopefully I'm good for a while.

A friend of mine has a Volvo and after talking with the guy who drives the shuttle vehicle for the local dealer he decided not to get another one. I guess the guy was pretty honest about the reliability issues with current models. Lots of recalls, many of the same people in there for warranty work over and over again.

To borrow a phrase from an old add for the Lincoln Mark VIII, "It not only says you've arrived, it says you beat everyone else there." Black is such a great color for those cars.

Even though yours doesn't appear to be parked in such a spot, all white Impalas have that connotation to me, because I see it done so often.

The internet is full of weirdass people.

I don't often post my plates in the pics because of the off chance that they spot my car (I often post about where I live), and do it some harm. It's a security thing.

I used to drive a 96 Camry, had to give it up. I might be in the market for another car soon, does anyone know a website where I can find detailed info like mileage? That would be of great help to my search.
