SEATTLE ? Political ads attacking Democratic attorney general candidate Deborah Senn were funded by one donor: the United States Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber gave $1.5 million Aug. 27 to the Voters Education Committee, the Seattle-based group that bought the ads, according to a posting today on the state's Public Disclosure Commission Web site.

So they will stop at NOTHING to bring down a Democrat; how dare she stand up for consumers' rights. Who's next, Spitzer?

Hey they have the right to do it. Just like Soros has the right to throw his millions into defeating any republican presidential candidate. Deal with it. Your kind of sounding like a hypocrite.

Wahhhh!!!

Soros is a private citizen, the US chamber of commerce isn't. Plus the fact that they didn't disclose the source of the funding is ILLEGAL. Anyway, I'm not a hypocrite; you're just a very misguided individual.

I'd say 'nice try' but you're response was pathetic as far as right-wing garbage goes.

Wahhhh!!!

Not only did you misunderstand the context of the article, you could be rightly called hypocritical as well for ignoring that the fact that alot more millionaires and billionares routinely throw millions for Bush's re-election campaign.

Soros is a private citizen, the US chamber of commerce isn't.

Well then, what is the United States Chamber of Commerce? It's not a government organization, it's a private group that has ever right to do this. Whats the problem?

BIll

I have to agree that you are being a little tunnel-visioned in this thing. Money talks in politics, and until you are prepared to limit what private citizens do with their money, it will continue to do so. Neither you nor I would be complaining if a grassroots environmental org was lobbying against a Bush cabinet member. Turn around is fair play.

Ummmm... seems to me that both you and Vadatajs didn't read the article very well and/or are purposely trying to mislead people.

From the article:
Senn's opponent in Tuesday's Democratic primary is Mark Sidran, a former Seattle city attorney.

So Vadatajs - how exactly does your "So they will stop at NOTHING to bring down a Democrat;" whining fit this story? Did you not know that this is a Primary race where there are TWO democrats running against each other, or was it just another attempt to bleat on and on about those evil Republicans?

Sheesh

Oh and I see you changed your sig. Good call. However I didn't much care because it just shows how much you really don't know. A gift from me to modern leftists. oh and a :cookie: for good measure.

I live in Washington, and have seen the ads. They criticise Senn for waiving a fine as insurance commissioner in exchange for an insurance company paying for employees in her office. In Washington, fines go to the general fund. She intentionally bypassed the state budgeting procedures.

The criticism is well deserved on Senn's part.

Was she charged with something after that little "deal"? Just curious.🙂

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

How's that for right-wing garbage? As long as the ads aren't libel or slander, they should be allowed.

At what point does giving money to support a candidate cross the line between reasonably permitted free speech and bribery?

Congrats CsG. You have accurately pinned down the entire Democratic party based on the action of one person. Good job!

I don't believe I said anything about "the entire Democratic party" but it helps you sleep at night - go with it.

I assume you know what his sig was before he changed it - right?

My bad, I didn't realize there were such a thing as left-wing Republicans.

Way to grasp reality there her209. Not all leftists are democrats and not all democrats are leftists.

Seems you need to clip a coupon.

Again you fail a reality check here her209. Not all leftists are democrats and not all democrats are leftists.
There are more political groups than just democrats and Republicans...but ofcourse you don't seem to be able to(or just plain refuse to) comprehend that.

So it's illegal for a private business to support a candidate or party? How are these labor unions giving money to candidates and buying them commercials?

Can you please explain?
