How come? I don't plan to overclock, and $289 is a sweet deal

Won't this hurt my performance while i have only one stick?
Can't take advantage of dual-somethings?

I have a DVD burner on my laptop, i can just patch cable over the data and burn it form there.

get a sata drive even if its 80gigs

Really? Does it effect anything but load times for zones?

This one had a total of 60 5 star reviews form newegg customers.

There really isn't much difference between a fast ATA and SATA drive, you should be fine with the one you picked (well, it's a Maxtor so maybe not). The 3200+ is only about 20 bucks more so I'd spend the extra money for it. I definitely agree that you need a better PSU, I have a Rosewill RE502 power supply and it limits my overclock because the rails fluctuate under load (and I only have a 6600gt, so you'll probably have worse problems).

Get a one gig stick of ram... dualchannel isn't that great, and you'll be slapping another gig into your system in 6 months i'll bet.

evga 7800gt copper retail
same just oem

ocz value series 1gig stick
same just corsair

just get a good reliable psu someone will name you one i'd personally go with a seasonic s12 series.

you probably have an old cd rom that you can use until you have the money for a dvd burner or combo drive at least. my bad thought it was just a cd drive not combo but still dvd burners are so cheap why not :)

as for hd's i would get seagate/samsung/hitachi

he doesnt need to spend the money on the seasonic, when he can just get the fortron 450w. also, the video card he picked is fine. SATA is really no different than ATA, just that most of the new drives are SATA, so they tend to be better. also, dual channel hardly does anything. it will save you a headache later when you need to get 2gb. get 1 stick of corsair value..
