Makes sense, but the vid calls this recipe 'camping seafood ramen'.

I think the ramen + ramen packet keeps the 'spirit' of outdoor camping- as instant rameh is what Koreans love to eat outdoors (like Americans eating canned baked beans).

So you're left with seafood that taste like ramen soup rather than ramen that taste like seafood. Ramen with eggs, scallions, and onions is best. Don't bother wasting fresh seafood on instant ramen.

You sure? I cook a lot and I can almost predict how this would taste:

1. All those shellfish will bring out that distinct seafood broth flavor ("si won han maht" in korean)- similar to how the broth of western steamed mussles taste (+ white wine)
2. That would have a very strong undertone with the ramen packet- which I think would be pretty good. I can't picture ramen packet completely overpowering it.

I think that it looked delicious even using the cheap noodles. Perhaps its easier to obtain ramen where they are than regular egg noodles. I wouldn't turn my nose up and refuse any of it because they didn't use different noodles.

Try it. I used blue crabs, mussels, scallops, conchs, and shrimp. I caught everything except shrimp earlier in the day. The shrimp was caught by shrimp fishing boat the previous night. So I used the freshest seafood possible and the result was still meh. You can taste the seafood but you don't get the rich seafood flavor. It's waste of fresh seafood. It's better to cook the ramen and the seafood separately and eat it together on the table. That way you preserve the true seafood flavor.

I think it's given we're not talking about 10/$1 ramen you find at Walmart or Kroger. You don't have to go to shitty Asian supermarkets like H-Mart anymore to buy top brands like Nongshim. It's mainstream now and I love that Costco carries it. I just returned from Costco and bought multiple packs of Champong, Zha Wang, Shin Ramyun Black noodles. Three packs of 4 for $12.99. That's less than $1.10 each. US Nongshim is not good as Korean Nongshim but that's due to the different peppers used here.

There's time and place for fresh noodles. If all you experienced is crap like Nissin Top Ramen and Maruchan, it's hard to understand the late night instant ramen cravings. You're not going to whip out eggs and flour and make fresh noodles then.

I just looked at Nongshim Champong package I bought from Costco and it's made in Korea and not US. I'm going back to Costco and picking up whole bunch more of the Champong. Made in Korea ones are so much better.
