You're comparing Nazis to fat americans? 😕

I'm saying advertising based off of negative stereotypes is not cool no matter who the target is. There seems to be this concept that it's ok as long as it's against Americans, but it's still the same thing. I used a much more negative stereotype because some people don't get it unless you beat them over the head with it.

How about "Hey black men, you can fit a lot of McNuggets in your baggy pants to take home to your hoes and your homies."? How is that any better?

There is a difference, Nazism is more common in the US than in Germany where it is in fact illegal, while obesity is more widespread in the US than anywhere else, i don't expect your feeble little mind to understand this but i AM German.

You want to go to a Nazi state, visit California, not Germany.

So being fat (which hardly affects anyone else) is the same as being a racist or a nazi?

Get your head examined, see if they find a brain in there.

Read his posts again, he compared calling americans fat to germans being nazis and his lat statement is obviously racist.

There is a difference between saying that the US is the fattest nation in the entire world (which the US medical service will gladly provide proof for) and to say that regarding nazis in Germany (where nazism is illegal).

Now one of these things are true, i might be overreacting but i do not appreciate being called a Nazi (i am a German of Jewish descent).

If you outlaw obesity in the US, THEN you can compare it, ok?

hes comparing ADVERTISMENTS not literally fat americans vs german nazis(which you jumped on as such). but that germans are advertising americans as fat which is bad form period.

maybe YOU should read the post again.

edit: about the racist thing, hes trying to make a point, you dont know hes actually racist.

The advertisement is for a movie about fat Americans.

Why is this a problem?

And what the fvck does it have to do with Nazis?!?

He compared WHAT nazi ADVERTISMENTS to what FAT AMERICANS advertisments? Please, explain.

In fact he didn't, he compared a German advertisment from an American company to his own views that Germans are still nazis (which is illegal), if you don't understand the issue, please refrain from commenting on it.

Well, advertising a fact is bad information? And no, that he is racist isn't the point, but comparing a fact (americans are the fattest population in the world) to some ebonics bullshit is only silly.

You cannot compare obesity to race and you cannot compare lack of intelligene to facts.

I think he's talking about advertising stereotypes. Americans = fat. Germans = Nazis.

I have no idea what is the problem, maybe he is fat and considers it his own fault.

What that has to do with nazism? Well, it comes up as soon as anyone like it to_

As a thread grows longer a nazi statement is inevitable and the poster who made it has immediatly lost the argument. - Godwins Law.

(this is not the exact wording, but the spirit of Godwins law)

Please read my post, THEN comment on what I said. As I said in the post you quoted, I'm comparing negative stereotypes and saying why they are bad form in advetising. While being called fat is not the same as being called a Nazi, I used a "much more negative stereotype" (my words) to make the point clear. I am NOT saying they are the same thing, but generalizations like that are in the same class (or lack of class).

As for my "racist" comment, I am once again simply making a point, in no way am I racist. Calling all Americans fat because a lot of Americans are fat is the exact same thing as saying all black people wear baggy pants and talk ghetto because a lot of them do. Same unfounded stereotype based on race. Or did I miss something and it is now acceptable to use racial stereotypes if they are true for some members of the race?

If so, my mistake, I now direct your attention to my new ad campaign with young Asian men driving riced out Honda Civics.

Ok...I do not think Germans are Nazis...I do not think black people wear baggy pants and talk in ebonics...I am not racist. I was making a goddamn point. The fact that you got totally bent out of shape over my untrue stereotype examples is EXACTLY what I was trying to show. You can't say "Americans are fat" anymore than you can say "Germans are Nazis". Yes, SOME Americans are fat, and at some point a bunch of Germans were Nazis. Is it fair to lump all the people in those respective groups together? No, it's not, which is all I was trying to say.

Don't assume the worst.

It is a negative sterotype that americans are fat? Well the entire worlds medical community would call that a "positive" fact.

Do you want to accept facts and deal with them as facts or do you want to sit at home and make up your own facts and call them as stereotypical as everyone elses, it's like saying that smoking is bad but "canada is filled with bad water which is unhealthy to drink" one of those two statements is true and the other one isn't just as your statements.

Do you get my point? The only reason this image is funny is because it is true, and you can deny it how much you want to, the US as a nation is a fat nation, that doesn't mean that everyone is fat though.

Now to compare that to Nazism, wth???

And your point is.......

We all wanna be irrationally exuberant foreva !

If you aren't fat, why are you taking offense to the ad? The truth is, most americans have a body fat percentage that is significantly higher than ideal.
If you are fat.... truth hurts, eh?

Actually, in the worldwide community it is done by numbers, and compared to the rest of the world you have a higher percentage of obesity, so yes, i can say that you are, as a country fatter than any other country in the world, and unless you would like to prove all your own medical expertise wrong you cannot very well argue with that.

But to say that about Germans being Nazis would be plain wrong, now try california and you might be right.

I'll assume you're talking to me...and if not, I'll answer anyways.

I'm not actually offended by the ad. I am not fat either, I'm not exactly skinny, but most of my weight is muscle (I lift weights 3-4 times per week).

I am simply pointing out the hypocracy of people who think this ad is funny, but if it was a stereotype about anyone besides Americans people would be much more against it. Anti-Americanism is the last refuge of the bigot.

Yeah, but last time I looked down at a tray-filler at my local Pizza Hut or Subway, it had facts about the history of the restaurant or flyers for bands. Not derisive comments about Russians and their hairy armpits, or Germans and their condescension.

Regardless, Americans are pretty fat, but it's no where near extreme enough to make rash generalizations, unless you're pathetic and trying to make a name for yourself. Besides, what's SO bad about being overweight? Last time I checked, that was a judgement based on physical appearance alone, nothing to do with personal integrity or personality. Who makes those sort of comments based on negative appearance to push a product? Nobody worth listening to.

"Dert hurr Americans are fat derrr, I'm cool." Yeah, whatever keeps you from thinking about your own problems. The fat-american thing has been done to death since the early 90s, get new material.

I seem to have misunderstood the rules for comparisons.

In the US, it is factually proven that a greater percentage of black people are in prison then white people. Given the fact that I can say, as a population, black people are more likely to be in prison than white people, would it be acceptable to have an advertising campaign centered around a comical looking picture of a black man behind bars?

Unlike you, I refuse to be offended by you calling where I live "Nazi", that is not the point we are discussing here.
