And now Malibu is pretty much ablaze again, great fucking grief.
WTF Is going on??

I had to evacuate my house last time, down here in SD, I sure as hell don't want to do it again. But we just had a fucking fire, now they have more bull shit. Malibu had fires, then we had fires, then Malibu has them again. This a month now, wtf is going on? Is there some idiot who thinks he's fucking hot shit and keeps setting fire to the place.

People like that ought to be shot. I'm glad they shot one of the arsonists, I hope he rots in hell, this shit is just such a pain in the ass. Arson is domestic terrorism--they need to be shot, and we'll see how many fires spring up in the future.

Yeah, well at least you weren't stuck on a military base watching the fire come closer and closer to your barracks with drill instructors who said things like, "Fires getting closer...you bitches gonna burn."

yeah. :p

But this is really pissing me off. Fires don't just start in November, especially after a fire like that in Malibu. You'd think we have these scorched areas that just don't burn anymore, but nooooooooo.

hahahahahahaha, DIs scare the shit out of me. I shook hands with three of them in a row--I think my hand was sure to shake hands with the pain elements in my brain.

But yeah, on Pendleton, the marines were willing to dump water onto the fires coming closer, but the stupid fucking pussy ass bureaucracy said no, so the Marine in charge pretended it was a training exercise, and extinguished the fires.

I'm glad we have people like that in the marines, who can smart alec these worthless paper pushing pussy retards we have in the government.

Thanks for the clarification.

When I checked the news this AM, I _thought_ the blaze was only a couple hundred acres, and heading out to the pacific.

I read fine. You come across as yet another Californian homeowner living in one of the most fire prone places on earth bitching about the decisions made by the folks who actually fight the fires concerning how best to save your ass and property. The decision to not fly military aircraft on the recent fires was based on years of experience gained by crashing lots of firefighting aircraft. Those "bureaucrats" you complain about are seasoned fire commanders who value the lives of pilots above houses.

Is this really such a difficult problem to solve? We have scrapped a ton of prop driven bombers. Would it be that difficult to convert them to drop water on fires?

With all the money we spend on national defense, I doubt that a big ass N.G. unit devoted to putting out fires would be even a tiny fraction of it.

You may read fine, but your analytical process is dimmed. I was commenting on the Marines who were denied access to fight fires on their own god damned base, I don't have a house on the base, ass, so its hardly a concern of mine in that perspective, but I saw that bureaucrats who don't seem to have their head on straight said no. This was on Thursday, the winds had died down where Pendleton is, so the Marines had to get up like it was a training exercise--if the winds were life threatening, why did the "training exercise" get ok'd when the fire fighting exercise didn't?

kthx.

Good question. How did the Marines' "training mission" impact other firefighting aircraft in the area?

There were no other aircraft in the area. That's why the Marines wanted to fight the fires in the first place--because most other fire fighting units had been relegated elsewhere.

As someone who lives right where Hurricane Katrina hit, let me give you what everyone gave us: "You're an idiot for living there", "You got what you deserve for living where that could happen", and "They shouldn't rebuild anything there because it will just happen again."

Edit: Seriously though, I hope that you are okay. I can't believe that someone would start an uncontrolled forest fire on purpose. I don't know what those people are charged with, but it should be one count of murder for every person they kill.
