...I call my phone provider (new service) to change my number because I receive 10-15 calls per day from creditors looking for someone named Ramon. They want to charge me $22.50 to change my number.

What a crock of shit.

I imagine there's a little blind pro-business hack in there that's on autopilot.

Oh, okay then.

I was wondering how someone could justify huge price gouges. 0.o

Like banks charging an NSF fee?

:|

I understand an overdraft fee. It's a fee for basically extending you credit. But how in the flying fuck does it cost the bank any money to deny a transaction?

:|:| Incredibly aggravating.

OP, are you able to block their phone numbers?

It is an additional cost to block numbers.

They charge you for that as well?!

What the HELL, Minendo?

No kidding. I only signed up for home phone because it was part of the "package." All I wanted was cable and internet, but it was cheaper for the bundle.

I am sure someone has a link to it but get the companies address and send them a certain letter. If they call anymore you can sue them/cause them to get hugh fines.

And now you're paying more money because you tried to save money. All part of the evil plan, I assume.

Oh, that is infuriating.

I switched bank accounts when I moved once, and the company billing me by bank draft said it would take a few days to update the new info and charged my old account..bam $40 fee.

Sounds like you should threaten to dump the home phone and see if they'll make it happen.

I'd probably drop it if that kept up unless it is a substantial savings.

Or just unplug the house phone so it doesn't keep bothering me if I don't need to use it.

Especially if that fee is enough to put you in the red. Then they have the balls to charge you a fee for having a negative account balance.

1. Keep the number
2. Research debt collection laws
3. Catch companies breaking the law
4. Sue them
5. Profit

I had the same problem when I got my current cell phone, but not as bad. Eventually they did stop calling (though occasionally a new creditor pops up and lasts a few days, and this guy keeps renting stuff from Blockbuster and not returning it)
