Good afternoon,
This is interesting. I have ordered a wide variety of parts from Newegg over the last couple years and theyalways arrived promptly, in decent shape, and the parts were exactly what I'd ordered. Never had to return anything, never was deceived (OEM parts masquerading as retail).

However, I'd always ordered online, never had to speak with someone in person.

Visa guarantees your orders, if you used Visa to purchase. Post another message if you have time, am curious what Newegg will say when you finally get through to them to process the RMA.

Best of luck,
PCM

Call back...it really isn't that hard. I've returned stuff to Newegg and they were perfect. Sounds like you got a bad CSR

gopunk is right, you had to say something to piss her off. General people just don't hang up in the middle of a call for no reason. Just be honest and tell the real story.

Use some troubleshooting skills. Why are people posting these stupid post abotu newegg when they havent tried a single thing!!! You get post like "i was sent the wrong thing!!! I'm calling the BBB and FBI!!!!" Yet these morons haven't even tried to solve the situation, they just resort to flaming a company or website. So annoying.

I'd have to agree, they have been very nice whenever I had to deal with them, they made a shipping mistake it isn't a big deal. But if you just called up and started yelling at her for a shipping mistake I would hang up on you too.

ILikeSprite: how many minutes ago did you get the CPU? My advice: cool down a bit, step back from the computer, and have a nice tall, cold <insert favorite beverage>, *THEN* call up Newegg again.

She kept saying what I ordered was OEM and just hung up on me. When I checked out the product I ordered was an "AMD 1700+/266 FSB Athlon XP PROCESSOR CPU - RETAIL". On my invoice the "RETAIL" is replaced with "%". There is no RETAIL or OEM anywhere. If I ordered OEM it would say OEM where that % is. I think what happened is they screwed up on the prices since both their retail and oem has gone up in price A LOT since Sunday when I ordered it. Since there is a stupid % where retail was I can't prove that I bought RETAIL. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I have ordered off of Newegg about 5 times, and have had them screw up only once, but I never sent it back. Why, you ask? Because I ordered a $40 VC, and received a $300 VC. Never let them know about that screwup, but other than that they have been fabulous.

Gump

Edit: I am sure there are different part #'s for everything, check the two products on the site, and see if they have different #'s. The part # will be on your invoice.

And for crying out loud, take a chill pill.

Prices look to the about the same since last week? Actually they've gone down a little bit? The 1700 Retail goes for $133.

Blaming Newegg and never ordering from them again because of one snotty lady you talked to on the phone is rediculous. Hell if that happen, you could never eat in any resturant again, purchased from any retail place, or buy anything anywhere that has any human employees, because any store is going to have a bad egg and a real unfriendly employee. But flaming a company for it isn't always deserved.

Did you get her name (they always tell you when they answer). YOU need to call back and talk to a supervisor and let them know what happen. I am positive they will take care of you and fix the situation.

There's also a chance you didn't order something right? There is a possiblity you clicked on the OEM link instead of the retail?

The only problem i had was when i got my EpoX 8hka+ and after 3-4 days it died. I called up newegg, let them know that it all the suddent started showing an error code "OC" and it wouldnt boot anymore (and believe me i tried everything in this world to get it working again). I sent it back and after 2 days they sent me an email stating that they couldn't send me a new one because they were out and they didn't know how long the shipment was. They also told me they didn't want me waiting around for the product and that they refunded my credit card with shipping and i should purchase it somewhere is.

now that was pretty nice of them! This was a few days ago...and that mobo and are most EpoX are out of stock on their site. But it was cool they didn't hold me off two weeks to wait for a shipment. Good treatment all around.

I have never had any problems when ordering from Newegg.com. But I would suggest like a lot of others have said to just call them again, and let them know what happend. Hopefully you'll get a different CSR and they'll be more understanding.

Good luck, hope you get your retail chip.

When did you place your order? How much were you charged? When did you receive your order? Mistakes do happen, but I've got a feeling that you may have misordered.

NewEgg has one of the best customer service on the net.

Really doesn't matter if its their mistake or yours, NewEgg has a policy that you can return stuff without a 15% restocking fee if you buy something else after the return. I've done it twice already on stuff I didn't like.

Be polite and ask for an exchange, they should do it for you no problem.
Take a chill pill and try again.

when you made the order you could print out a copy of the order right then did you? and why did you not check it to make sure you actually picked the right item. and if you did and it had it down again why didnt you print it out? i always do. i dont expect newegg to make a mistake but when and if they do i will be ready.

Call them back and NICELY this time tell them what ahppend. if not sell it =) shrug you may take a slight hit but no big deal.
thats how i got my 800mhz for my wife. heh time to upgrade her now
