And I'm not allowed to upgrade her system, she likes it just the way it is.![]()

Or a quieter "exhaust fan"? :Q I'd get clobbered if my wife was a member here and read that.Originally posted by: b4u

Man, women's don't get it at all!!!
(if only we could upgrade them as well ... like putting a better cooling solution on some bad moods eheheh)
I use UT2003 and Elderscrolls: Morrowind to push my system, but a new game would be fun. mechBgon has me interested in fighting robots all the sudden.Originally posted by: Blain

They're never done! Spend some $$ on some software to push your rig. Something other than benchmark programs.
It's like building a hot car only for the dyno and not the streets.![]()
It is playable, very playable, at 1024x768x32 with Blend selected in the DirectX portion of the GF4 control panel. It might not be Radeon 9700 Pro pretty but it is still decent. And if you read my entire thread you'll see that I want to upgrade my video card still.Originally posted by: Shade4ever
Hmm...you play Morrowind, yet you say your computer is complete? Just turn on/up AA/AF options on the GF4, and you'll soon realize that you are just beginning.![]()

And then you can configure a home network and make a LAN party within your family ...
The risc is you having the best computer, win all games, and then your children and wife say it's unfair and want an upgrade too ... that will burn a lot of cash ... but at least you're the man choosen (hopefully, if you don't cheat on gamming) to twist their rigs for the next years ...
... man, you'll end up spending all your vacation savings on computer parts ... then your family will hate you, you'll be all alone, with at least 3 rigs around ... AAAAAHHHHHHGGGGHHHH!!! STOP IT!!! You must resist to the computer scene!!! Your life depends on it! well, sort of ...

Wife luv's the Popcap games and my little guy is having a blast with cartoon network and Harry Potter right now.
Can't wait til he gets a bit older so we can play some FPS together![]()

But it's not fun to do that.

OMG, I feel depressed now. My system upgrade, the one I fantasized about for a few months and then spent a month doing, is done and over with. The only thing left to do is to buy more memory (I need another 512MB Corsair XMS stick) and a faster video card. The video card I'll buy is not out yet (hoping to God that the NV35 is a viable product upgrade from my GF4 Ti 4200 128MB) and the memory isn't desperately needed as of now so...
I think the PC upgrade thing is an addictive activity and I got hooked again. Before you say it, I do have a life. I work full time, I am a half-time college student, and I am a husband and father. I don't get a lot of time for my computers but I do enjoy whatever time I DO get.
Your thoughts?
You know, I hadn't thought about it that way... You're right though.Originally posted by: ErikaeanLogic
ask your wifey about "post-natal depression syndrome." it's what happens after you give birth and the 9 months of segue into the birthing process leaves a feeling of emptiness once the child is actually born. sound/feel familiar?

Boy, your 6 year old has a better rig than mine!!! And he doesn't use it!!!
I feel sorry for you, having such a LAN and no one interested in playing your games ... Popcap games you said? :Q Have you tried forcing your wife to play your games? Something like "Look here my love, I just chopped this mother-f###er head out!!! Isn't that sweet?"Well, maybe that wouldn't help!
And I have a PIII600EB with 256Mb RAM and a power Riva TNT2 32Mb (yes, it still exists), with a ... -drummers rumbling in the background- ... Western Digital 120Gb 8Mb Cache HD (ah! you don't make funny of my HD, now do you? Thought so!).

I'd love to play my brother (he has a 1900+ and a 9000pro) who is just a year younger than me but our computers are about 25ish feet away and I can't find a crossover cable to reach that far else I'd be playing a LOT of CS with him

Maybe this is why people will pay a lot of money to get fast internet connections - to be able to play...though its a lot funner when you are playing with a group of 10ish friends rather than on the internet or at a gaming cafe with a 80 other people. You get the "small group homely" kind of feeling that isn't anywhere else
And that would be bliss - smart, beautiful wife who can snipe you a mile away in BF1942![]()
