I will never forget when as a teenager I saw the space shuttle launch. Not having a viable space program right now makes the space shuttles success even greater....

That is one regret I have, never going down to see a launch live in person. Watched live on TV, was there visiting about 4-5 days prior to a launch too... never was there for an actual one though 🙁

Despite it's utilitarian appearance, I still think the Shuttle is a beautiful bird. It's sad that she'll never fly again.

Never realized it until now (along with a bit of quick research) but I always thought the crawler and launch pad itself were one entire machine. Apparently not, as I guess the actual crawler would be in the way of hot gas venting and what not. Interesting!
