I can't help but notice nobody shouted, "scientologists is suck!". This forum is making progress. :)

Ok I don't get it. What is so bad about scientology itself?
Their church doesn't seem very nice if they forced the Internet Archive to remove a critic's web site and it's founder was an interesting person. Hubbard wrote some twisted stuff like the Misson Earth series.

But he also has written some very helpful books like his best seller Dianetics.
Also they have people like John Travolta in it and they seem to be an organization that wants to help people.
Churches of other religions have pulled crap like this too so it's nothing new but it's still not nice.
blah :(

So anyways, I want to know, what is so good or bad about scientology that has everyone up in arms?

Everything from deceiving its own membership to harrassing anyone who says anything negative about them. Go read the site in question and do some other research, and you'll probably see what I mean. People have been killed.

Yay. The KKK often operates under the claim that they want to help people, too.

Not really going to contest that. One of the most fearsome things to me about Scientology is that if it actually lives longer than a few decades, its followers will become widespread and an organization that, if anything of what xenu.net says is true, is disturbingly subersive. When I stop going to church, no one comes after me.....

Hopefully they won't go after Anand because we're not falling for their BS. ;)

It's a best seller because members of the CoS will go out and buy up all the copies in various bookstores every so often. Dianetics is basically step one of Scientology.

Visited the site in question. Why am I not suprised... Having read Hubbard's Mission Earth series I see just how much he's into mindfvcks.
Enh, just another nutty religion I guess.
