This is a beauty pageant?

I went to this monthly Beauty Pageant and I was kinda taken aback by the arrogance of these over done, make up addicted girls. They were so confident but, really, they weren't all that attractive. Is this just a New York thing or do girls the world over have too healthy a self esteem?

Are you... saying... I don't look good in drag?
/me storms off to his room crying and slams the door three times

It looks like it is a parody of a beauty pageant. Are you sure you knew what the event was about?

I think the organizers meant it as a parody, but these girls thought they were irresistible and didn't seem in on the joke.

In high school there was a girl who some guys used to make dog noises at under their breath. Feeling sympathy for her, I told her they were being jerks, but she honestly had no idea that they were doing it or why they would do it. She didn't immediately perceive the correlation between the teasing and her looks (which should have been obvious, she wasn't very attractvie). I certainly wasn't going to explain it to her and just avoided her from then on. She was very self-confident as well.

Honestly, some people are made different and never look at themselves objectively. It's hard to be self-critical if you never take a look at your own faults.

Self confidence isn't a bad thing and I'm not trying to judge these girls based solely on their looks. My point is the arrogance and abundance of self confidence that these girls had, not only thinking they were beauty pageant worthy (even if it's at a bar) but the way they carried themselves, assuming everything they said was so witty and charming because they have boobies.

I wonder where that comes from - over indulgent parents? Boys telling them that they're physically beautiful just to get some? I don't get it, honestly.

I explained it.
They're matched by an enormous population of men whom are dense as rock.
My sister is right on the line of being this way.. she has occasional moments of clarity, which trrify her and make her profoundly dissatisfied with her dense husband and shallow friends.
Perhaps they all do, it's probably not worth thinking about.
Anyway, for the most part, they're happy as they are.. Leave them be. You don't get it, fine, move on.
