Bingo. We have not one, but ***TWO*** winners of the Insensitive Assclown of the Day Award. :|

I surely hope I don't get passed over for such an honour.

<< please join the boycott of all food products owned by tobacco companies. Here's a list of those owned by Philip Morris. >>

Why would I want to boycott such a fine company? I will support them whenever they make a product I enjoy.

This lady is mourning for her dead friend, and trying to send a message about the danger of smoking.

Maybe you guys who want to make the snide remarks should go start your own thread instead of crapping in this one.

Oh so very sad. Tragic death of friend, yada yada.

But............

Does anyone else think this sounds an awful lot like a Dennilfloss story? 😀

(Well somebody had to say it, didn't they!)

No, somebody didn't.

Somebody should slink back into its slimey cave now, and return this thread to the human beings.

Ohhhhhh camambert doesn't like me. Boohoo, sniffle sniff.

Somebody needs to grow a sense of humor. It's just a message board, stinkcheese, nothing we say means anything.

sorry to hear about your friend
🙁

on a side note... a lot of people don't know how to spell cigarettes?
heh

You disgust me. Accusing Wombat Woman in a thread like this. Her words resemble nothing like that at all. People do in fact die from smoking every day, many of them in fact. Are you so out of touch with the real world that you don't realize that this sort of thing happens all the time and it isn't such a rare occurence that it requires doubt?

CK

FrancesBeansRevenge, aren't you the jackass who pitched a fit in another thread when someone dared to disrepect the sainted memory of Kurt Cobain? Looks like you're ok with the fine art of threadcrapping now.

<< <<This guy>>

Cigerates dont have a sexual charater, so its "it"

And btw saying <<dDon't let "him" kill your friend, too>>

Your friend killed HERSELF by smoking, Its her fault that she put the cigeratte in her mouth and wouldnt stop. I have no sympaty for your "friend".

She knew the cons that go along with smoking, but it seems like SHE didnt CARE.

So I can care less
>>

Thank you for confirming what I've suspected about you for quite some time ! :|

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and I can sympathize with you; but as to the untimely death due to smoking, I cannot at all align myself to your thinking. One sure thing in life is, nobody gets out alive. We all go one way or another and if your friend chose to smoke and that lead to your friend's eventual cause of death, then so be it. I could no more blame sky-diving and vilify it because it was the cause for the death of one of my friends. People make choices and have to live, or die, by them. My only hope is that they truly enjoy their life no matter what choices they make.

I am sorry but I have to pretty much agree with the assclowns. Smokers kill themselves and hurt others around them with second hand smoke. My dad and his sister were smokers and I got quite a few lungfuls from them. My fiance's mother is a smoker and no matter how much we try to get her to quit she wont listen. I will of course mourn their loss when they die early due to smoking, but it is still their fault.
i am truly sorry for your friend but tobacco companies aren't to blame it is the person who buys the tobacco.

The point here was that this thread was started by someone suffering a lose of somebody she
held dear. The empathy and condolences were meant for HER. A simple "I'm sorry for your loss"
or saying nothing at all is more appropriate than this kind of stuff which is bound to make the OP feel even more terrible 🙁

Not really. The original post talks about the loss of a friend but more so talks about this friend's death due to smoking. It starts out, "This guy (cigarettes) killed my friend." I'm truly sorry but WW's friend killed herself as surely as if she had put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger, I cannot blame the gun nor feel an inordinate amount of sympathy. Any loss of someone close is terrible to experience but I don't think it is appropriate to go around passing off undue blame upon anyone or anything due to the deceased person's life choices.

I've had friend's and family die for any number of reasons but I don't go around blaming the sport of sky-diving or the sport of scuba diving or the makers of alcohol or the tobacco companies or the fast food companies or the car companies or the motorcycle companies. Need I go on? I have had friends and family die due to any number of circumstances; I don't blame anybody I just try to remember them for who they were when they were alive.

I am very sorry for the loss of your good friend WW. My sincere condolences.

I smoke. Have for 40 years. The cigs will likely kill me. Have quit numerous times only to start again. It's a dirty, nasty, foul smelling, expensive, and hazardous habit that some people cannot break. The only way I could quit permanently is if the things were made totally unavailable. That won't happen.

Life is full of trade-offs and compromises whereby we all get to the same ending. Living in the modern world, eating the modern diet, breathing the modern air, drinking the modern water, travelling the modern highway, taking the modern drugs and medicines - all things that will either speed or slow us along in our journey. Who knows which will push them to their ending?

Smoking is now regarded generally with less respect than heroine addiction but there was a time when all the social influences pointed toward smoking as the "in" thing to do. Many of us somewhat older folks became addicted during that era. And many of us have not found the way to quit. Even after near-death from cancer, when I was sure I would never smoke again, the trade-off became to smoke or suffer through endless panic attacks. I smoked.

One thing I'm sure of is that we can take some comfort in knowing that the insensitive, witless, bungholes of this world will also reach the end of their travels, the pity being they couldn't fill in for some of the good ones we lose along the way.

that really sucks. finally got my dad to quit after more than 30 years. took 90% blockage in three arteries to make him stop. i just hope the cancer doesn't form.

Keep your head up WW....

Then Harvey shouldnt have taken the thread off-topic with his idiotic boycott rant. He's done it plenty of times before and had to have known it would cause a stir in a thread that did not need one. :|

Glad to see you posting again Jean but not under these circumstances.

I have some good, intermediate and bad news to pass on.

Good news. Michael my 20-year-old son has been on the patch for about a month and has not touched a cigarette.

Intermediate. His girlfriend and friends still smoke. But they all have begun to cut back because it bothers Mike.

Bad. Ken my 33 yr old son still smokes even though the Navy has a smokeless policy. We are all working on him but it's difficult when we are in Jacksonville Fl and he is in Pearl Harbor.

rahvin -- << I should point out that if you wish to boycot MO (philip morris) you should in fact stop buy all Kraft and Nabisco products. That covers about 60% of the "convience" foods on the shelf. >>

Absolutely, and that's as good a reason as any to boycott them. With that much market share, an effective boycott would be noticed.

There are good alternate products available for almost any of Philip Morris' food products. If you're lucky, there's a Trader Joe's somewhere near you. They're a relatively small chain with a great selection of cheeses, nuts, wines and other great food products, all at great prices. 🙂

Turkey22 -- << ...but tobacco companies aren't to blame it is the person who buys the tobacco. >>

Like me, WW is old enough that she and many of her friends were teenagers before the tobacco companies were forced to put any warnings on their products. I remember cigarette ads claiming that more doctors preferred one brand over another. The tobacco companies have known for over fifty years that tobacco is both addictive and carcinogenic. Yet, I personally watched those lying asshole execs raise their hands before Congress and lie about it.

I think every tobacco exec for the last fifty years should be tried for Crimes Against Humanity.

That post makes no sense at all, nobody said anything about pearls and swine, are you on drugs?

It looks like the Den Martyr can dish it out but she sure can't take it.

Say good bye, troll. :|
