Yep, I agree -- I think it would be funny to setup 50 bidder accounts and be the high bidder on each item being sold for profit -- Too bad I don't have the time to create accounts and do it --

I'm glad someone is doing it though....

I don't know... no one "needs" those NY papers, if someone wants to buy them for a lot of money, it's none of my business. If people were auctioning food to the starving, it would be a different story.

I'm from NY and this is my first time posting since this all happened. I'm happy this guy is ruining all of these idiots auctions. This is f*cking sickening, i'm glad somebody has the balls to do something like that. If I wasn't so pissed off I would do the same.

It would be appropriate if all the proceeds went to Red Cross etc... but not for self benefit in times like this.

this is sick... but if there are people out there willing to pay that much for a newspaper... who would you blame?

Actually what this guy is doing is illegal. He's putting himself at pretty big risk doing this. Granted the people selling this stuff to make a profit (selling for a donation to a good cause like the red cross is another thing though) don't deserve the time of the day and their current auctions as well as future auctions of theirs should be boycotted. However doing something illegal like this guy is doing is not recommended. Might not be a bad idea to e-mail these people and strongly recommend they give their winnings to one of the organizations helping out in NYC.
I have one of those pressed pennies I got from the top of the world trade center. I'm considering auctioning on ebay to the highest donater to the red cross. Only problem is I'm not sure how to verify the person actually made the donation. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Yes, just sell it and donate the money yourself.

I KNEW that the person who came on here condemming this was the same person who was going to mention that they were considering selling something on eBay.......

If you are going to give away the profits, state this clearly on your auction........I think these groups might stay away from you but if they don't too bad. I have no respect for people doing this because most of them are doing it for other reasons. Sell it for the retail price and give that to charity.......

I agree with you 100%. People trying to turn a profit on this for personal gain are on the same level of the terrorists

Complaint : Profiting from the WTC tragedy is shameful. Mourn your fellow NY'ers.
Response : There's nothing wrong with selling a newspaper, get a life!!!
Follow-up : $75 for a 75 cent paper? Please donate blood. I'll be happy to assist you.

Hell yes, rock on man, rock on.

He always leaves the same comment. Hes a serial poster. I do agree with him but don't think he is very creative as far as his comments.

First, I'm not condeming the guy, but I am stating he's doing something illegal and taking a big risk.
As for what I'm thinking I thought after reading this thread it'd be a nice thing to do to sell something like this with the money going to charity. Thing is if I have to receive the money and then give it to the red cross that could take a week or more. This way the person would give directly to the Red Cross giving them the money now when they need it.
All that guy is doing is taking out his anger instead of encouraging these people to donate the money to charity. Please read my post more carefully before you jump all over me.

Edit: *sigh* Nevermind, the penny was a sears tower one. :(
