wow. am I the only one who thinks its crazy to have your tools hanging behind you like that? whats the point of that? why not something attached to you. i wouldn't want something hanging behind, possibly getting caught on something...

1. things get snagged and ripped off. snags are a major hazard for the climber too. things will also fall off on their own.

2. lots of real tools do not fit in a pocket or on a belt.

3. there remains the option of securing/dropping the load of the tools separate from the climber.

Yes he does, but safety regulations indicates that you must be on a lifeline once you are working. That mean you are allow to free climb (much faster & not as cumbersome) till you reach the destination where you must hook onto a lifeline, as the climber video said and done.

I don't get that... so "climbing" doesn't constitute "working" in this situation?

wow, I bet the first time up must've been terrible.

imagine the climb DOWN

hell how long does that take!?

Not when you are on the move because it is a grey area where safety line isn't accessible and a 3' lifeline may impede your movement.

As said free climb is an option, so as hooking the lifeline onto the rungs as you climb.

How often do you see people hook on to the ladder rung as they climb, and where are you going to hook on to if you are the first person to go up a ladder to secure it?

Good lord. Every time I thought he was at the top he just kept climbing. No friggin way you could get me out there.

HOLY..SHIT!! GODDAMN IT!!!! AHH!! I'M DEATHLY AFRAID OF HEIGHTS! I'm sooo dizzy right now. My stomach doesn't feel good at all right now. oh gawwwwwd 🙁 🙁 T.T :'( :'(.
and lol @ the posts here 😛. yes, no one can pay me enough.. ever.

It seems almost counterintuitive... you need big ones to do something like this yet having big ones can only weigh you down. 😛

Did you guys see that one pic of the bikers in spandex that was posted a few weeks ago? Now those guys have testicles.

i worked as a roofer for awhile and remember doing some 3 story jobs on steep roofs without safety harnesses and sometimes that made me nervous, especially on windy days near the edge, or when i had to carry a bundle of shingles up a wobbly ladder. But, this is insane I cant imagine going up that high , you gotta have nerves of steel for that. They probably get paid really good though

I can't imagine OSHA allows the free climb part, that high up. You'd think there'd be a safety cable strung up to the top with a free sliding friction device if you fell.

They wanted to make us wear a harness with just such a device when we crawling down 12 feet into a piece of machinery that had limited foot holds. We talked them out of it when we showed them just how little room we had to work with once we got to the bottom and the harness would have been in the way.
