I am looking for a light system, as I will be doing a 24hr race the end of March. I seriously don't want to spend a fortune here, but what will really get light enough for me? Something that will light the trail up good. I mean, i see these systems for 300+ bucks. . .WTF

I want to maximise my system and money here. . .so, I was thinking about a headlamp like what you would by at a store like ems, and then a handlbar bike battery system, or something. . .but then there are issues with the headlamp not being powerful enough, and the actual placement of the light, etc.

I do not want to spend more than $120-$140ish.

Thanks for any info!!

I got a pretty good LED headlamp from REI for like $50... you should try that out. Its bright as hell and helps when riding trails after dark in the woods. Hope this helps some.

*edit*
You can probably rig your own light system with some components from Radio Shack too... LEDs are pretty cheap there, or you can use conventional lights... just a thought.

Idealy i would like to have a headlamp/handlebar system that is either one system, or one headlamp as mentioned, and a standard bike mount, with a 4 hour batt life.
