She said it would be a great idea if all restaurants were required by law to post all the calories, fat, cholesterol, and sugars in big letters next to every item in the menu along with a big warning about the health hazards.

Here ends my sarcasm.

Now I see how our politicians are getting elected. It really is voter stupidity.

Which means that the responsible people--a.k.a. those who almost always eat a salad with dressing on the side everytime they go out--will continue to order salads.

And the people who don't/won't give a damn will continue to order the blue cheese lard chips, with extra lard on the side, and a side of queso...

And there will be NO appreciable change in behavior--except for the increase in costs after restaurants have to deal with all of the new bureaucratic regulations.

Disclaimer: Now granted, sometimes when I go out, I get steak. If I'm not hungry, I get a salad. I often take food home, but, sometimes I eat it all. I'm not suggesting that we all become anorexic vegans... but people do need to have some personal responsibility for their actions. Do people not know that the extra cheese queso dip with lard and extra salt is bad for them?

And this is exactly what I told her. If you care to know what's in the food you're eating, the employees will tell you. If they don't tell you, it would be a rational decision not to eat the food. If they lie to you, they've committed fraud.

Mines better.

You pay $.10 for every calorie that your meal is.

As a general rule, nothing you can get at a restaurant besides vegetable side dishes is healthy healthy. Fish is pretty good but you have to order the right stuff (non-fried/cod).

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that "chicken fingers" are deep-fried in oil and has lots of saturated fat. In fact, most of the time it says right under the header of the item, "deep fried" or "batter". If you want cholesterol, just get the eggs. If you want sugars/saturated fat/calories, get the desserts. Need I say more?

MSG is actually something that can cause allergic reactions like drowsiness in people, sort of like peanuts (which often prompt more serious reactions). That's why it's labeled. AFAIK no one has allergic reactions to saturated fat, mostly just fat cells and if you want to prevent that then ordering chicken fingers with onion rings is a bad idea.

And honestly if you're on a diet, what are you doing in a restaurant? That's the last place you want to be unless it's your cheat day (which you do need).

You've got to get over that lard fetish.

The first problem is the silly "diet" crap. Diets are junk, and I rate them right along with the ebay snipers. Diets are nothing but short term fixes to a long term problem. Back off on the AMOUNT of calories you eat and exercise more.

QFT, just educate yourselves! Use the fvcking internet! I swear, as technology is making it easier and easier for us to find information, people are just getting more and more ignorant and lazy.

EDIT: For example: if you eat chocolate because it is an antioxidant, you are a fvcking idiot. You are doing more damage to your heart than if you just didn't eat it altogether. Eat some flax seeds (or take a flax seed tablet), or eat berries or some other form of antioxidant. When I see the Hershey's commercial I imagine morbidly obese Americans (most likely idiotic, ignorant American women) eating chocolate, justifying their behavior for being such a fat ass by saying that it is healthy - it is an antioxidant. This was just one example.

Moral of the EDIT: USE THE INTERNET!!!

I have provided a link for the lazy: Google

Isn't that what prompted the No MSG sign?

I believe what prompted the "NO MSG" signs was the sometimes fatal allergic reaction some people had to MSG.
