Anyone see these commercials on TV yet? I have to admit that I use this term numerous times thoughout the days lately. I've pointed to "gay ass" cars, read "gay ass" threads, and just simply made it a normal part of my daily vocabulary.

I've even let it slip at work and no one batted an eye.

I don't think I mean anything derogatory towards any actual Gay person when I say this though. Words can change meaning over time, and I think this is one of those times.

I mean really, is saying "that's so gay" really that bad?

This thread is just asking for immaturity.

How can a gay person be offended by somone calling something "gay". If their gay then thats a good thing so calling something gay means it's cool right? I mean if a gay guy told me my shirt was really straight I would thank him for the compliment.

Now I could make a case if they were gay and you told him/her they dressed straight as that would be an insult.

While I personally make an effort not to do it, not because I care about oversensitive folk, but because it's the incorrect usage of the word, I still think it's a queer commercial. It just feels absurdly forced.

If you don't mean anything derogatory, then it's obviously their fault for being offended.

Just remember this: whenever someone says they are offended, say "no, you're not".

You know better than them.

Hi Sexy. :lips:

it bothers me. not so much that I'd criticize a person for it, but I definitely think less of people who use the term in a derogatory sense on a regular basis.

how is it *not* insulting towards gay people to use what they are as an insult?
