Does my head in that that series is twenty years old now! It's still absolutely amazing though. The League of Gentlemen announce 2018 UK tour (Guardian)

Depends on the subreddit, lots of them are good and not as you describe. I mean, there's nearly 3 million subreddits apparently...
Yeah, aside from a fairly small gaming sub-reddit I was on in the mid teens, almost no community.Biggest issue with reddit is, ironically, the total lack of actual community.
Yes there are a lot of people to "talk to" but I honestly cannot remember the names of any of them. Just a bunch of random conversations 1-2 responses deep and then that person is gone forever.
On the other hand there are least a dozen people here that I know well enough to wish I had never known them.
what exactly was the point of reddit? I've had a gander a few times and feel sorry for being human. With Reddit about to absolutely nuke their community by effectively banning 3rd party apps on July 1st, old school forums like AT should be hopefully get a little bit of a booster shot of folks leaving the site.
I've been mentioning AT (and vBulletin based forums in general) when I can in those discussions on Reddit.
As soon as Bacon Reader gets shut down, my primary method of interacting with Reddit will go away. The site is pure cancer on a mobile browser and their app is pure garbage, so no BR, no reddit for me personally and likely a lot of other users there.
Oh yeah, no NSFW content even if 3rd party apps can somehow cough up the millions of dollars to license the API...
Its like someone at Reddit is being paid off to drive down the buyout price.

everyone's moved to facebook groups or reddit however in the hell you can use that website and not be disgusted by the content spewed on there with almost no decent moderation
that may be the only benefit. i remember when forums were the hot thing in the late 90s and early 2000s you'd get a ton of daily emails or birthday notices. like most online mediums sites like forums or reddit if they do whatever the op is claiming, too much whining that it's lost to time once the site goes down.it's like regular forums, you gotta find and subscribe to the individual groups or subreddits with the amount of moderation that you want
there's usually multiple subreddits for any given topic with different levels of moderation
and often there is a separate subreddit for a topic to make fun of people who take the topic too seriously
I haven't seen this myself, i believe google influences your results based on cookie history? in any case i cannot imagine your frustration being to great, igor. would you prefer reddit rubbish results or qora crap?I always find useful Reddit content through google searches. Searching on Reddit itself returns junk. After the first few experiences, I've given up. I would prefer if Reddit replaced their UI and used the same one that AT uses. At least it would make more sense then.
At work, I browse in incognito mode. It has good user experiences related in it.
Quora? Maybe once in a blue moon. The crappiest information is littered throughout that site, with gems strewn about here and there. The posters there remind me of my non-technical colleagues I have to suffer. Like the ones complaining that now they have to get into a submenu to refresh the desktop in Windows 11 as they were used to doing it a dozen times in previous versions because it "improves" the computer speed. The sort of stuff that makes you want to blow your head off upon hearing it.
In some subreddits you can respond with an image, I don't know the details behind how/why you can in some but not others.Yes seriously. There are plenty of great subreddits that have helped me find out lots of wonderful things on one website. With plenty of positive interaction. My Reddit is pretty much politics free so I don't have to worry about those motherfuckers.
Sure the interface is archaic and a lot of the technical stuff is crap. I mean you can't even respond to a subreddit with a photo. It's terrible.
But as far as the community quality, saying this is like a bunch of 4channers is stupid.
Biggest problem with Quora is the garbage moderation... I stopped posting there entirely.
