This forum is aging... Here's basically old people complaining

Page 2 - Seeking answers? Join the AnandTech community: where nearly half-a-million members share solutions and discuss the latest tech.
"In July 2007, the forum underwent major changes that site administrators stated as necessary for furthering userbase growth. The profanity filter was removed (although use of vulgar language is limited), and the identities of traditionally anonymous volunteer moderators were revealed (with the exception of two).[16] Many sub-forums were restructured and added in this overhaul as well."

shut up you stoner hippie

Man, sometimes I look at my ancient post history and shudder at my awkward drunk stoner phase. Hell, there was an intervention thread. Let's just say I went through a rough patch in undergrad... thank God I sorted things out before grad school.

1. This message-board time forums aren't growing today. New young user base growth here is basically zero. (who the hell finds ATOT & how today?)

2. So this forum is essentially just aging members complaining all day (look at the topics here, especially now).

I found this place back in college. Now I'm in late 30s, wtf.
🙁
So in other words, you're complaining that you haven't been driven away by tween/teenagers whining about your 30-something whining? :colbert:/😉

Who wants to read this stuff anyways.
This isnt a helpful community board. Most people are looking to chop your head off as soon as they find an opportunity. Then it just unravells into a bunch of cursing.
Forget it. Its just a waste of time.

Some boards are moderated better and threads get shut down quick if you start attacking the person rather then actually trying to discuss the topic but since this forum likes the sound of a bunch of babies yelling and screaming then so be it. If thats entertainment to you then have fun. But be very careful trying to get serious answers here.
The technology side of this forum can be alot better though, like if you were asking for a cpu recomendation etc

Hell Yeah... what else are forums for? 😉😵:yum:

Reddit, you can swear all you want & they're pretty good about not allowing name calling & personal attacks. People are generally more civil.

Here, you can bully anyone you want on a repeated basis. Yet you can't type f@ck.

Which is more harmful to you- personal attacks or not reading 'f@ck'?

FUCK

I'm in my early 20s. Back when I was looking up skylake benchmarks/reviews I came across Anandtech for the first time. I started browsing the site quite frequently and then I noticed the forums button. Comment sections on posts are alright, but I generally like forums much more. The layout is a little nicer, you can fit more information inside one post and it feel more in line than in comments, and of course the concept of community written topics. I like browsing off topic discussion to get my mind off of things, and there are some interesting and funny topics that show up here.

I agree that it's harder to find younger people that are interested in forums rather than using reddit or social media. To me, forums just feel like they can be more informational where reddit is more emotional with the karma system. I'm subscribed to Toyota forums, Kawasaki forums, tech sites, game sites, more than I can count. They are all for information regarding a specific topic. If I go to the corresponding reddit, it's just people trying to impress everyone else rather than being helpful to others. That being said, I do browse a few subreddits, and there are plenty of exceptions to what I just said.

This is no place for a raging boner thats for sure ... but i been here hella long and yall haven't so kiss my hairy tenured ass 😎

It's been extremely helpful to me I learned how to make better coffee, get a cheap used PC, computer build info, Problems with computer builds, that I need to get slow cooker, that bulk beef is not what I want and that Mayne drinks and posts a lot.

PCCHIPS Lottery BBS and DFI-Street used to be my go to spots. I've been lurking here for a while though, I prefer forums over this new social media crap.

OH! And AMD forums back in the day... I forgot about that one. Haven't used it since they shut it down and then reopened it, they had a good community too 🙁.

Here you go. You can now add another mid 30 year old geezer to your tally.

First Fuck Reddit.

Second

Perhaps one of the most interesting words
In the English language today is the word fuck
Out of all the English words that begin with the letter "f"
Fuck is the only word that is referred to as the "f"word
It's the one magical word

Just by it's sound can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love
Fuck, as most words in the English language, is derived for German
the word "fleckin" which means to strike
In English fuck falls into many grammatical categories
As a transitive verb for instance
"John fucked Shirley."
As an intransitive verb
"Shirley fucks."
It's meanings not always sexual
It can be used as an adjective as in
"John's doing all the fucking work."
As an adverb
"Shirley talks too fucking much."
As an adverb enhancing an adjective
"Shirley is fucking beautiful!"
As a noun
"I don't give a fuck!"
As a part of a word
"Absofuckinglutly!"
or
"Infuckincredible!"
And as almost every word in the sentence
"Fuck the fucking fuckers."

But you must realize that aren't too many words
With the versatility of fuck
As in these examples describing situations such as
Fraud
"I got fucked at the used car lot."
Dismay
"Ah fuck it!"
Trouble
"I guess I'm really fucked now."
Aggression
"Don't fuck with me buddy"
Difficulty
"I don't understand this fucking question"
Inquiry
"Who the fuck was that?"
Disatisfaction
"I don't like what the fuck is going on here."
Incompetantce
"He's a fuck off"
Dismissal
"What don't you go outside and play hide-and-go fuck yourself?"

I'm sure you can think of many more examples
With all of these multipurpose applications
How can anyone be offended when you use the word?
We say use this unique, flexible word more often in your daily speech
It will identify the quality of your character immediately
Say it loudly and proudly!

FUCK YOU!

Or for the reading impaired https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_PkJ_4oEjc

Anybody else think this guy sucks?

Forums everywhere have been going downhill for the last 5 years and maybe even more. I think they were exciting back at the turn of the century since they were new and all but I think social media offers the same outlet and it feels more personal.

If you read ATOT enough, you realize that this forum only have a dozen or so everyday posters. Go to some sub reddits and you can find hundreds of daily posters (and good content like porn).
