This even legal? Someone on Craigslist selling Windows 7 OEM copies for $40?

This install is a legal copy but the honesty of your installer is in question ..From what I have seen here in Dallas they are using a microsoft technet mod to make these installs valid. In other words , you get a valid oem of windows 7 but these system builders are doing it illegally and claiming its legal .I guess it all depends on you ethics. If Microsoft decides to stop this flagrant use of the msdn technet mod installs you may have to worry where that leaves you..

Could be the pirated version. The OEM version that is on many websites "illegally" activates when you install and allows for as many activations as you want. I can't imagine what kind of idiot would be dumb enough to sell them...but at least he isn't posting this on eBay.

You should scan the Boston-area CL; there are half-a-dozen people selling cracked win7 ultimate, from $40 to $100.
