I'm running Windows XP (upgrade) Yes it's burned but its a copy off of a friend that didn't want it anymore but lost his CD after I burned it. It installs fine on any computer I throw it @ and yes I shall get shunned for it eventhought technically is isn't pirating. But anyways I'm running:

3000+ 64 Newcastle 754
1gig DDR333 Samsung
7.2K WD 80GB 2MB buffer HDD
Nforce3-250 Motherboard Chaintech
6600GT 128 8x AGP XFX
300w Antec Power Solutions (yes not sufficient but it runs)

and my computer runs worse and takes longer to boot then my moms HP Pavilion which is 4 years old and my aunts Compaq which mights as well be a 2 years old. In games/Most programs mine kills them, but bootups and stability they own mine... I find my computer slowing during the dumbest things, games lagging during the dumbest points and worst of all my 1 minute startup even right after a format.

So my question is wth is going on?

I recently formatted and still have 50 gigs free on my computer...
I have all video Drivers/motherboard drivers I need.
I have ran scans checks etc.
Motherboard is basically new along witht he PSU and Video Card
I tried each ram stick and neigther made a difference.

I can't seem to pinpoint my problem... I also checked all IDE's/Power Connectors etc...

I'm at a loss....

what starts at boot?
MSCONFIG
startup.
Untick everything. (make a note of what you have unticked)
If it is a little sluggish still,

How often does it crash, and is it possible to pin it down to something, ie, when you plug in/out USB, or graphics intensive, or sound intensive, etc etc?
what errors come up in event viewer?

Not really any crashes, mostly just REALLY slow... Well not REALLY but for the most part somtimes its unbelievable and annoying. I just basically unplugged everything and plugged it back in and cleared CMOS everything but another Format which doesn't help anyways... This is leaving me thoughtless..

montag451 has posted two great trouble shooting things you should do ASAP and let us know.

Use MSCONFIG to disable all the crap under "Startup" tab (and make note of what you disable so you can put it back again)

And check the Event Viewer for clues.

I'd put my money on some piece of hardware flaking out and hopefully getting Windows to write errors to the Event Viewer.
