This Day In History: Nintendo first releases Super Mario Brothers in 1985.

I still remember fondly back when I got my NES for Christmas in 1987, and I was playing Super Mario Brothers, and it was JUST like the arcade version!
 
also this day in history.. A young me will realize he'll never get a goddamn nintendo and then gets beaten with a wooden spoon.

Ever play lost levels (was in a SNES combo game with all the NES MB games on it) luigi was such a bastard to control.

No, but the "jaws of death" or whatever he had attached to that slinky that saved his ass when he fell in that hole with spikes at the bottom kicked ass as well! 😀
 
I never had the OG Mario but I did play it after playing Mario 2 and I didn't like it at all. Mario 2 & 3 ate up countless hours of my time. Ahh, memories ...
 
Man, I suddenly feel very old. I remember rushing home from school to go to friend's houses to play this (my mom did not let me have a nintendo).
 
I remember my dad briefly trying to play mario. He'd jerk the controller up above his head in a vain attempt to get mario to jump further.
