flyovers are awesome, but i do agree tax money should not be spent for this. if anything, the teams should pay the government for the entertainment.
 
If the savings from jet fuel will get the potholes in my neighborhood block fixed, then I'm all for it. :colbert:
 
The pilots have to have practice time. If they didn't fly over stadiums they'd be flying over an empty stretch of desert or farmland but they'd still be flying.
 
Why can't sporting events pay for the flyovers themselves? Its not like athletes are underpaid. 🙂
 
What's the point of flyover? It's a wasteful way to advertise for the Air Force. It's a waste of fuel, maintenance hours and equipment. It does nothing for the readiness of the U.S.A.F.

Actually I'd argue it's their best form of advertising. Seeing a TV commercial is one thing (especially compared to all the stuff we already see on TV screens). Seeing a fighter jet streak across the sky in real life is way more cool.
 
Eliminate both.

When a household can't afford to pay the bills they look at anything that can be cut. When the government can't pay it just cries and borrows more.

It has been for years. I remember when the NM national guard would fly F-16s over the town's main street for the 4th of July parade. Now they never do, and they haven't in many years.

So would you rather they fly southwest for personal flights and spend even more money by securing the entire airport(s) and flights?
 
These military planes will still fly for training, they just won't do it over sports stadiums anymore.

Way to go America.
