What exactly makes you think, "this changes everything?"

I'm not like the hardcore Republicans that are saying that Obama's presidency will be a complete disaster, but what makes you think Obama is going to have the power to change anything? This is what kills me about the huge celebrations/fanfare about Obama winning, what is he going to do to help you? He has promised the world like every other politician, but 90% of what he said that he wants to do will never get done. His health care system is almost certain to not get passed, there will be enough objection from both sides to see to that. Taxes on every front will almost certainly be raised, but that is not something to be cheering. Iraq is not going to change much if at all, with the job there being mostly done (thanks to the surge, supported by McCain but not Obama). On the economy in general, the bailout package I think has illustrated that the government cannot do much in the face of a strong trend in the market.

This is a good point about anyone who is elected.
One thing I heard over and over from people voting was "It doesn't matter who I vote for they never do anything for me, don't know why I bother, but I got to vote for someone, so it might as be" ____________________fill in the blank.

Its great all the speeches they all give if they actually did what they say, but it all gets watered down when they get in office.

I can't think of a single thing that a president has done in my 39 years that directly affected me other than war. Nothing really positive.

I'm just looking forward to this brave new world that the liberals suggest is just around the corner.

Can't wait to start pooping gold bricks..

THIS changes nothing. It only opens the door to change.

Real change will come when we elect a black man and no one cares that he is black, or a black man runs and doesn't get 90% of the black vote just because he is black.

The only thing we have done tonight is put a black (or half black) man into the White House. Everything from this point forward is up to Obama.
