This car is tight. (Part 2)

they pulled 225hp only, but that is for a few reasons that can be found here

of course getting more than 225hp out of a 455 wouldn't be difficult 😉

the 1970 models(ram air IV) put out 370 hp and 445 ft-lb's though, but i couldn't find one on ebay. they are my favourite, because of the two huge scoops at the front of the hood. looks so sweet 🙂

When you look at the older shelby's remember that the first ones came with Hi-po 289's. Later he put in the side oilers. Don't mix up the numbers when looking at HP. Even by today's standards these are still some of fastest production cars in history. This one linked is WAY underpriced. Shelby America rereleased the 427 side oiler in the mid 90's, this time in aluminum casting instead of the original cast iron. Talk about a boat load or torque in a light car....

Ya those maybe the best looking cars of all time ( my opinion of course). I had a 72' TA white / blue stripe ( naturally) w/ 455HO. Specs were 300 HP ( the 72 and later HP curse), but dont let that fool you..... I have a 98 cadillac STS now with 300 HP and roughly the same gearing, and My TA felt so much faster.

I guess that feeling can be attributed to the massive torque difference between a 455 and a 279? ( something like that, i forget). Anyway, Im with you, those 70-73 TAs are flat out beautiful

Im not much of a ford fan , but that car is a little confusing to me ( going on memory of course). The hood pins and lights in grill scream boss ( pins were dealer option on mach1). But the boss hoodscoop was substantially bigger than the hoodscoop on that car, which is saying Mach1.


Hell i dont know, my memory maybe off since I was into muscle cars and now ( possibly 10,000 beers later ) 8)

 
Thinking about it more, I think the only the boss 429 had the massive hood scoop. The boss 302 may have had that smaller one..........

So i guess that could be a boss 302
