Im using the via hardware monitor that came with the abit kt7-raid cdrom. I have 3 case fans plus the globalwin heatsink/fan on the cpu.

Could this be possible or is it giving me wrong temperatures.

It is quite possible. If you have excellent cooling by your HSF, and also great case airflow, 26 at idle is not out of reach.
